Turkey Package Tour

I have just completed my 10D7N Turkey trip. Currently at Istanbul Airport waiting to board my flight back home. My short advice on whether Turkey is a good holiday destination is NO. It is quite a boring place, no scenery and tired journey. It is ok to visit once in your life time especially if you have been to all of Europe and are running out of idea of where to go. If this is the first time you are flying more than 10 hours west. You might as well fly 3 hours more to Eastern Europe, Central Europe or Balkans.

The highlight of our trip is hotair balloon in Cappadocia but due to weather condition we were unable to fly the two days we stay there. Everyday is at least 4-5 hours bus journey. There was one day where we need to travel 10 hours for 650km. Along the bus journey there is no scenery, both sides are just flat ground. Unlike Austria, along the bus journey both sides scenary are like pictures.

In terms of safety, I feel safe when I am here. In fact our tour guide told us Turkey is safer than most of Europe. Although 98% of Turkish are Muslims, you can't tell they are a Muslim country. The women do not wrap themselves up in black cloth. They are as trendy and as fashionable as a European. Turkey is just like any European country to be exact.

Hi Yeng, I'd like to help you for questions about Turkey. Since I am Turkish and from Istanbul but live in Singapore since 3 years, I'll try my best.

My first advice is that do not take a taxi in Istanbul unless you need it in very worse situation. Public transportation is better especially for city center areas.

If you ask me, I feel less safe when I travel anywhere in Malaysia from Singapore or other countries in SEA.

I feel sorry for you but, If you ask me, visiting Turkey during these time is not the best time. I would feel the same as you if I go Turkey right now instead of summer. Cappadocia is better during Spring in late April and early May. As I have understand your tour is most like historical tour for that you could have gone many places that would take more than 10 days with proper guide. Next time, if you go ,let say, to Antalya during summer, you would see more Russian than Turkish and have more enjoyable time in Summer.

I paid $1,868 per pax but I intend to take all optional tour so must add another $670 per pax.

I'm arranging private turkey tours at $2,699 all inclusive. The price is quite similar to your group tour.

Hey there. August is peak summer season so hotels and tours prices are generally higher.

For hot air balloon (which i totally recommend , no trip is complete without it), tickets will be harder to get as the case for some of my clients wanted to go in july were completely no tickets. Also these agencies will not include hot air baloon, you go there pay cash $200-$250sgd.

I have a travel service (not travel agency) specifically for Turkey only, the bang for your buck will be higher (inclusive hot air baloon, better hotels, private tours) You may want to consider, our service is more personal.

I went to turkey on an insight vacations tour.
Took an SIA flight all the way to Istanbul .

For the hot air ballon trip, it is dangerous, hence none of the big tour operators will openly include it . In case any thing happens, they can disclaim responsibility.

However , they will unofficially drop hints to you as to how you can make your own private arrangements. The cost is at least 300 Euros . You basically approach the front desk of your hotel in Cappadocia.
I don’t think there is any off season for hot air ballooning .

Overall, Turkey is an exotic country with lots to offer .

Oh yeah , be sure to check out the legendary Staff of Moses in the Topaki Palace.

Other cool stuff to try out is the famous local Raki wine and Turkish Delight sweets .

The preserved ruins of Ephesus are also very interesting. There’s lots of well preserved Roman stuff , if you are interested in that sort of thing . I remember being brought to an existing well preserved Roman amphitheater. The existing marble seats were still intact after all these centuries and I sat on it.

My tour also included a visit to the actual ruins of the fabled city of Troy.
It really exists !!!

Other extras worth paying for is a live performance of Whirling Dervishes .

Yeah - I tried the hot air balloon ride against the advice of my travel agent due to safety. It was fantastic - although I see why people are warning against it - the fire can easily can alight and the landing very bumpy lol

Hot air Balloon is considered a flight. every flight has a chance of an accident. this includes commercial airline flights. The FATALATIES % from total accident reports for Airplanes are higher than that of hot air balloons worldwide.

Its the best place in the world for hot air balloon for a reason. Bucket-list worthy.

1. Hot air balloon pricing barely has any profit margin, and has a significant cancel rate. (due to weather and high safety requirement for flights to take place as declared by Turkish govt body) Travel agencies don't include this not due to safety, but because of the reasons I explained.

2. 300EUR per pax for a 1hr flight is an outright scam. The rate should be around 145-175 EUR.

- A Chinese tourist was killed and nine others, including Malaysians, were injured on Wednesday when a hot-air balloon crashed during a sightseeing ride over a Unesco world heritage site in central on Turkey, reports said.

The accident occurred early Wednesday over the famed sculpted rock formations of Cappadocia in the Guvercinlik Valley of Nevsehir province, Dogan news agency reported.

The balloon went down for a yet unknown reason, it added.

I went to Turkey with Dynasty in 2015, is a very good trip with additional stops that not in the printed itinerary.
