turning laptop into desktop

I did it last time. Possible. But the laptop is like overworking. And performs slow also.

Can. But must open the laptop. Otherwise it may overheat and shorten the lifespan. If in aircon environment, then can close.

I am not sure if will "explode", or over heat though. I used to do that with no issues. But of course, it depends on how the laptop exhaust the hot air. Some laptops may require the top monitor portion to be left open, e.g. Macbooks and Samsung Chronos 7, as the heat exhaust vents are hidden where the monitor hinge is. Therefore, keeping the monitor part closed will cover the vents.

Anyway, my office often uses docked laptops connected to monitors, mouse and keyboards. Never notice any negative effects so far.

Anyway, by the time warranty over, time to upgrade to a new and faster laptop.

Been there, done that.

But the cable mess on the table with VGA cable, two USB input device, one 3.5mm jack, 1 USB cooler pad and the AC input can be quite glaring

Best to remove battery to prolong your battery lifespan when you do this.

I using my Windows 8 Tablet as my desktop leh.... HDMI out, Bluetooth keyboard and mouse and Printer via USB.

It is actually ok but you will put more load on the GPU. It will also definitely run dual monitor (extended displays, Internal LCD + Ext Monitor). i.e. use internal LCD for web pages, youtube etc, ext monitor for game.

However if you're using it for gaming, then performance in FPS terms on extended displays might be an issue.

My HDD overheated and my cpu fan died when I did this.. Was using acer travelmate that time..

I am doing just that for my laptop, connected it to the TV and subsequently to the soundbar through the HDMI cable.

Been working for 4-5 months seems okay, nothing wrong. Just more taxing on the graphic card due to the large screen size it have to pull.

Other then that everything seems okay.
