Hi freakinclown,

I have a Philips 40PFL9705 that has broken down. When I turn on the power there's no display, no sound but only 3 flashing red light. I am pretty sure that there's no problem with the display panel. Btw, I changed the mainboard and psu I bought from ebay but still no luck. Will you be able to fix it? Please let me know, thanks.

Ridney

Hello Ridney,

If you have already changed the powerboard and motherboard of the tv, and it's still not working, then I suspect it is a problem with the panel. If that's the case, it'll be very expensive to repair.

Can I check if the replacement boards you used are original Philips parts? I'll pm you to discuss more on this issue

Hi freakinclown,

Can I send over to your dad my 40" Samsung LCD LA40R8 from 2008. It is working OK but clicks multiple times before starting up. It needs some soldering work to replace a few capacitors. PM and quote me today? Thanks.

Hi there,

Got a TV from LG, 55LW5700, currently something wrong with it. Screen does not light up and it only has pulsating red light on. Any idea what is the problem?

Hello!

There's a chance that it's a problem with the panel. In that case, it wouldn't be recommendable to send it for repair as panel replacements are very costly. However, the exact problem can only be confirmed after checking the tv.

Hope this helps!

Hello!

It's likely that there's a problem with either the powerboard or the motherboard. The exact problem can only be found after checking your tv.

Hope this helps!

Hi,

My 3 year old Sharp LED TV model 40LE830M just died today. I suspect that the power supply has blown as I heard a loud "pop" sound coming from the TV right before it died. Now it cannot be switched on at all.

Can you replace the power supply of this model tv?

Please let me know the estimated price of getting this done.

Thanks.

Hello!

I just checked with my dad on this. It is the powerboard that requires repair. However, whether it is repairable or whether it needs replacement can only be determined after checking your tv. As for the cost, I'll send you a pm.

Hope that helps!

Samsung 55D6400 a few months out of warranty - backlight partial failure. Top 25% of screen is very dark (but image still visible). I opened it up and replugged the two backlight cables from the power board, but no joy. Couldn't see any obvious burned component on either side of the power board. TV functions normally otherwise. I'm basically just trying to determine if repair will be coast effective. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello!

It is likely that the panel is causing the problem. It wouldn't be cost effective to replace the panel. Probably better to replace the tv when the time is right.

Hope that helps!

I have a sharp lc-32le204m which after watching for a while it turn blank and only sound can be heard. By lightly tapping the back of the tv the image re-appeared.

What could be the problem and what is a roughly estimated of the repair cost.

Thanks

Hello!

Regarding your issue, my dad is not able to tell what's wrong with the tv before checking it out. I'll pm you with more info regarding this.

I've got a TV which keeps randomly increasing or decreasing the volume... possible diagnosis of the problem? Not sure if it's worth it to repair or live with the annoying audio :s11:

Might be a remote problem or remote interference from something else. Place a solid object in front of the IR receiver on the TV. Confirm the remote doesn't work. Monitor if the problem still exists.

Thanks for the reply freakinclown.

Just an update - the TV is repaired.

I called I few tv repair guys. One of them, tvguru-sg.com, said they could try to open up the panel and change the backlight. I was generally impressed with them. They came on Saturday (same day I called). The guy spoke perfect english and was knowledgeable. He carried off the TV. He brought it back today and everything seems to be in order. The backlight is fixed. I watched a movie just now and didn't notice any "collateral damage". Backlight is no less even then it was before. They did collect $380 from me, which is a bit painful but a lot better than a few $k for a new TV.
