Hi all
I have a 2019 Mercedes Benz E class. Have been using the original stock tyres (run flat tyres) that came with the car since then.
One thing I really notice (and don't really like) about the original set of run flat tyres is how bumpy and noisy they are on the road.
Now that they are close to worn out and to be changed, I am thinking whether I should switch to another type of tyres.
Essentially, comfort and quiet are important to me.
Would anyone here has any good advice on what tyres to recommend pls?
Thanks in advance

Go for normal tyres instead of RFT. The money saved can be used to call multiple times of tow trucks in the event of tyre punctures.

Stock is best. You should stay with RFT and get them from CnC. They know what is best for your car and won't go wrong.

Thanks very much. That is what I think too. Just wondering what other merc drivers use as normal tyres when they switch out their RFT....

The issue with the stock RFT is that they are bumpy and makes the car noisy (internally). I noted the diff when I switched from my BMW (older) to the Merces (newer)

Can drive such ride, what is couple more hundreds leh..

Dunno leh, can see some people drive E class but paste Tourador sticker put on Tourador tyres.

Anyways, I think E class may be on 18 inch rims, Michelin Primacy 4 and Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance 2 are some of the better rated comfort tyres around.

no prob, just a a headsup, if you are thinking of getting the goodyears, make sure its efficient grip performance 2 and not efficient grip or efficientgrip performance. the difference between those and the efficient g rip performance 2 is very noticeable. just fyi cos i see some shops trying to clear their old stocks, can get quite confusing if you are not too sure.

From rft to non-rft, you will realise that you lose the stiffness of rft. Overall car suspension will change. Some people ok, for me not ok, because feel bouncy especially going through pothole or bumps. You lose the bumpy feeling but introduce the bouncy feeling. End up had to go for stiffer shock suspension set up. Stock shock suspension, tyres and all the springs are all designed for your car to meet general needs. Changing either one of them you will feel the differences, be it weight, tyre side walls, width, spring rates, damping rates and suspension height.

If you are ok or cannot tell difference of bounciness, then any non rft should be ok. If you are not the Mercedes owner that buy exp car but save every cent on other car expenditure, michelin primacy 4 St should fulfill your needs.

If you want ultimate comfort, need to spend more on air shock suspension which also translate to more maintenance cost.

If it's bumpy, likely your PSI/kPa is off.

wow, very scientific. I am not so scientific and don't have that level of knowledge. I only feel that my current ride is too bumpy and car interior is noisier compared to my previous BMW (which does not run on RFT). When i complained about this to Mercedes Benz Service Center, they told me it is mainly because of the RFT lor. So, i am thinking of changing them out.

Yes, RFT is higher on road noise. You do some homework online and you know. Ask outside tire shops and they will tell you the same thing.
