Hi, got a local branded 28 bucks usb3 card reader from Challenger yesterday. It would not work on the USB3 ports of my brand new HP laptop but only on the USB2 port. Naturally, that makes no sense. I returned it against a refund. At Challenger it was suggested that there might be general problem of USB3 card readers and Windows 8. I wasn't aware.
On the net I read that the Sandisk reader experienced a similar problem end of 2012 that may have been dealt with by way of a firmware update.
Has anybody acquired either a Sandisk or other USB3 card reader recently that works fine with Windows 8? Care to share where bought and for much?
Thanks for sharing.
Cheers.
PS. I have recently obtained a Sandisk 32GD Extreme USB3 USB Drive. It works like charm and is lightning fast. My ports are thus working just fine. I need the reader because I shovel on a regular basis lots of data from my Canon CF to the laptop/desktop for processing and storage and my existing USB2 reader is simply too slow.
