Wanted to go some new places instead of the usual Bangkok. Would like to seek for suggestion and advise on Udon Thani :D

Is it a place worth visiting? and any places of interests there? Must go? Must eat? Must see? :s13:

All input welcome.

Wonder is it good idea to go there during Songkran which is next month 12th April.

Thank you all

Nakhon Chai Air is the best! Like an airline, but they only can speak Thai.

Chan Tour logo reminds me of Singapore Airlines :s13:

Nongkhai will be worth your while if you have time. The atmosphere is different. You have the Mekong flowing right past you and it's very tranquil. Hop over to Vientiane and Laos too, for a night or so. It is that convenient.

not bad la.. comfortable massage chair. welfare package also decent.

Nakonchai air is good. the "stewardess" are good. BUT, very important to choose ur seat properly!~!!

DO NOT TAKE LAST 2 ROW SEATS. Bus have toilet and it can stink u for ur 10+hrs ride.. =.=

Ride prepared. Nakonchai Air and all of these coaches I have taken have their aircon set to "Freeze the buggers". Otherwise, service and comfort are fantastic. The meal voucher entitles one to a decent, if basic, meal at the truck-stop.

If you are crossing to Laos by yourself, don't let the song-thaew or tuk-tuk driver detour to a visa agent. Insist on being taken directly to the Friendship Bridge. Better take the direct Nongkhai-Vientiane bus from the terminal to avoid such scams.

Udon, Khon Kaen recent years got a few teksi liao, blue/yellow colour one. But songthaew is quite convenient lah.

No need visa, only write white card, pay border fee 40THB or 9000 kip to the lao kastam. Take the NK-VTE bus from NK bus terminal, only 55 THB. Bus timing courtesy of xiaozen.

Don't take tuktuk to Thai checkpoint, then cross-bridge bus pay 20 THB, then take lao tuktuk or bus to VTE, change here change there waste money only.

From VTE can fly air asia to KL, dont need to take 10 hour bus return to BKK. :s13: If you haven't buy return air ticket lah.
