Going to uni soon so I finally need to buy a laptop.....Have been on desktop since forever. :s22::s22:

Primarily considering ultrabooks due to its lightweight and long battery life.

I have a 1.5K (+/-100) budget, not sure why I came out with this number but I don't want my laptop to cost more than my desktop...

So now I have shortlisted some ultrabooks but I am not sure which to choose.

1. Dell XPS 13 (FHD, i5, 128GB SSD) 1Year Warranty
I like Dell's design the most and I think it has the best battery life among the options but it seems just outside my budget unless PC Show can bring it lower. :(

2. Zenbook UX305UA(FHD, i5, 256GB SSD) 2Year Warranty
A cheaper alternative to the XPS 13 with a couple of compromises.

3. Blade Stealth(UHD, i7, 128GB SSD) 1Year Warranty
Slightly better performance at an affordable price. Poor battery life for an ultrabook though.

There's reports on hinge issues on Zenbooks and overall worse QA on Razer's side. Heard Dell's service seems terrible too. :s22::s22:

Any thoughts on this?

I'm in similar situation like you, going uni soon and need an Ultrabook. I had decided to go with Lenovo Ideapad 710s. The reason for choosing it is because it has similar bezel-less design to XPS13 but doesn't broke the bank. Battery life might not be as good as XPS13 or UX305 but it doesn't really matter to me. You can create an education account on lenovo online store to bring the cost down. Upcoming there will be Asus UX306 that you can consider also but again its bezel is still quite thick.

There's University IT fairs / Promotions too.
Do check out your school's website for more details.

They generally do come with extended on site warranty - which makes it worth while should you encounter any problems with your laptop.

Specifications depending are generally quite good as well.

They have not refresh their lineup and even for last year's models, the price doesn't seem to be attractive for the price then.

can also consider lenovo x260

can pick and choose options, e.g. backlit kb, extra big battery, mobile sim modem, etc.
