Ultrawide suggestions 1440p

Hi guys,

Need some suggestions for a ultrawide, I'm currently using a Lenovo Y27q-20. While I love this monitor but was thinking of going ultrawide.

My use case would be 50% gaming and 50% productivity (excel etc) so I'm a little concerned of the curve when on spreadsheets. I'd normally sit at the centre of the screen and won't need to share content with others. So I think a VA should be ok, my table is beside a window so it moderately bright most of the time.
I'll have it hook up to a gaming PC, Xbox Series X and a work laptop at times.

I am trying to work around the budget of less than 1K SGD and came up with the below possible choices, are there any more that you guys can suggest?

• Xiaomi Mi Curved Gaming Monitor 34" UWQHD

last week mi monitor was selling $389. else the monitor sitting around $450~$500. cant really complain much with this price....
most users are happy with this monitor, just some have bad experiences in their after sales.

4 years ago, changed from 2*24" to an Ultrawide, Crossover 34U100. 3440x1440, 100Hz. Recently, that monitor is having small issues.

Thus, I saw the Xiaomi 34" from Qoo10 at $478, and got it for future replacement of my dying Crossover. Got an AVLT Dual Monitor mount too and mounted the Xiaomi Mi Monitor below and the Crossover 34U100 on top.

Calibrated with DisplayCal.

After calibration, the two monitors are close.

Xiaomi Mi Mi Monitor 95.6% sRGB

Crossover 34U100 95.5% sRGB - also much worst variation delta than Mi.

After playing some games, I have not noticed ghosting on the Xiaomi Monitor yet. My games don't run 144hz anyway.

Edit: I can get 144Hz on Xiami Monitor with Freesync. Not using included DisplayPort cable but a Daiyo Display port cable.

On a side note: Can watch old 4:3 shows using both screens

I think the viewing angle is bad. Like washed out when I stand up OR view some parts of the screen slightly sideways when sitting down. Or issit too bright?

The colours like not deep enough. Tends to be abit reddish, pinkish.

Set it to 3440x1440 144HZ in Nvidia Control Panel. Can't even hit 100fps in DotA2. 70~99 only. GTX970 beh kan.

Shall try to adjust colours manually then share here if anyone interested.

Have you tried looking at other brands? I have seen an entire office use Prism. Seems like it is one of the more affordable brands but cant be sure.

Well yes, but not sure if my research is limited to what I can find hence I'm asking here for other suggestions. From what I saw, LG is quite above 1K but with a nano-ips display. AOC doesn't have alot of models here. Acer / Predator's X34P is also above 1K as well.

Yea, have looked at Prism but I want more 'mainstream' brands.

No la, the top monitor is 4 years old and is dying, sometimes, half the screen don't work, must power cycle. Thats why i went with the bottom monitor as a replacement.

I just mount it on top while waiting for it to die
Then I am getting a normal 24" to replace it as 2nd monitor.

To OP,

If you are using Ultrawide, you can open a few windows. But having to adjust them is difficult, so I use Windows Power Toys Fancy Zone to split the screen to 3 zones and drop them into different shapes as necessary.

Was thinking between this 2 models myself last weekend. Saw Courts selling the xiaomi monitor for 559 and comes with 3 years warranty and just ordered it.

I think they are very similar monitors, although the Gigabyte is advertised as 1ms, actual reviews seems to show its not 1ms. Its 1ms MPRT and not 1ms GTG which is more important for gaming.
