Understanding AppleCare Protection Plan

If Apple did not ask for proof of purchase / sale receipt during your repair within AppleCare warranty period, you are pretty save. However, if they did, I am 100% sure they won't accept Ebay or other unauthorized apple reseller's sale receipt. They can be very strict if they want to. Just my opinion after some phonecall to AppleCare.

I bought an AppleCare off Ebay from the UK for my 11" MBA 2011, BNIB and authenticated by Apple within a week. Savings of more than SGD$100.

I believe it boils down to doing adequate research before purchasing online, avoiding sellers with shady records. Also pays to be able to differentiate between a good deal and a deal too good to be true.

Do you mean 2.7GHz dual-core change to 2.8GHz dual-core? Actually you could hardly feel the different unless you go for test bench comparison.

Buying a MACBOOK, it is good for Applecare immediately.. I find it high price than other vendor.

how about if we buy applecare for imac from an Apple store (not reseller) in US or HK or Australia? Will Apple singapore accept receipt of applecare from Apple Store in other countries?

They should accept but restricted to the services available in Singapore. For example AppleCare+ for iPhone, since it is still not available in Singapore yet, I seriously doubt they will allow you to have accidental damage claims*

*adds coverage for up to two incidents of accidental damage due to handling, each subject to a $49 service fee.

agree i bought my applecare protection from ebay too in 2009. Recently had to send in mbp for battery change, no problems and still covered under warranty, it really depends which ebay seller u buy from.

does apple care include chaging originial battery? if yes, do we special reason (battery not working properly etc) before apple change battery?

1. Battery cannot hold charge.
2. Battery cannot charge.
3. Bloated battery.
4. Battery capacity less than 50% of its designed capacity.

Under above conditions, you shd be able to change the battery FOC with Apple if you have Applecare for iPod and iPad.

There was once I did try to complain to them in regard to the poor battery performance of a ipod touch (less than 2 years, the battery completely die off!!! OMG).
Without applecare, they gave a refurnished set in the end. However, it is a long and diffcult process.
Hence, just buy the Applecare from authorised dealer, and save all the troubles.

they will definitely warrant their battery if it is under warranty period. However, I not sure if they will void the warranty when the device undergoes abusive condition such as water damage. You might need to check with them.

Seller said she had bought it lost it, bought another one, then found it again. Hence selling me the one she thought she lost.

Reading this thread, seems like the one she sold me was already activated by the authorised seller when she bought it with her Macbook then? Somehow the authorised seller could activate her applecare plan without opening the applecare package? The post on 1st page said the serial on package is linked to the activation number...that's how they do it?

She says she is not so familiar with all this, just that she found her sealed applecare and decided to sell it.

Any advice?

You likely got cheated..

Nothing you can do since Apple has published that such product should be purchased with caution.

No one can activate a physical copy of Apple care without the serial key inside. If it's activated, it is resealed as new..
