I have a um mage universal and I'm considering to either reshell it or upgrade it to 6 drivers.

is there any difference between an upgraded 6 drivers mage to the um miracle? or should I just get a new set of um miracle?

Hi bro! All the existing UM models cannot add drivers. :D Why not visit us and audition the Miracle and see how it goes. ;)

Unique Melody models (Marvel, Aero, Mage, Merlin, Miracle, etc.) cannot reshell then add drivers. However, if you have other IEM, say a Westone UM3X and you wish to reshell to a custom fit and even add drivers, that one you can do. :) So from our website we also included some IEM models that is suitable for reshelling + adding drivers. :D

UM Miracle

Hi TeamStereo,

I have been using UM Miracle for a year plus and yesterday i found that the sound of the right side of the CIEM become significantly softer.

So should i be bringing down for you all to do a check?

Thanks to stereo, digisound and w3ird0lol for your help for my first ciem. was concerned initially about the fit since it's my first pair and I felt that I couldn't get the seal. but after a month of getting used to it, everything feels good afterall and I'm satisfied with it.. For now. =:p

Hey Clothlust,

As a Mage user for around 4 years, ex Miracle owner, currently using Legacy, I wouldn't suggest you upgrade to more drivers even if UM still doing it. IEMs wont automatically sound better with more drivers, they need to do lotsa fine tuning, I have upgraded my SE530 long time ago and ended up selling it. Also, if you like the sound of Mage, I don't think u would like Mircacle anyways, I loved Mage so much I ordered another pair recently after I lost my old pair. I like Mage even over Miracle and Mentor. The Legacy on the other hand is more like a direct upgrade from Mage without swaying off to other sound direction, so if you want an upgrade, go for Legacy.

Recently plugged in toxic cable silver poison to mentor and everything just opens up so nicely. Vocals are sweeter and has a nicer tone now. Really happy over the stock cable.

Love is gentle. Love does not demand. Love is giving without asking anything in return. Love gives freedom. Love always listens. Love is sharing your passion with the person that matters.

I made a quick visit to Stereo @ ION a couple of days ago. I ended up trying the UM Aero and Mage, using W20 as a reference point (I forgot to bring my W2). My first impression was that the universal versions of Aero and Mage sounded very similar to W3 and W4 (which I have auditioned before). I guess the number of BA drivers already dictates the sound.

The Aero was true to its name, with a thinner, more V-shaped sound and very bright treble. I am not a treble lover and some of the ess-sound was hurting my ears. So I stopped listening to the Aero after a couple of songs.

The Mage, on the other hand, was much more satisfying to listen to. The universal fit was poor and I think it affected the bass delivery. The low bass was stronger than W20 but not by much. In fact, I found the W20 bass more forward and impactful. The mids were as good as the smooth Westone's signature mids but with more detail and less roundedness. The highs were a lot cleaner and clearer. The two ends of the spectrum also extended further, making the sound more complete. However I felt that the sound was a tad "closed", with a rather narrow sound stage.

I think the Mage could be a hit for me if it had a stronger bass. For a 4BA custom with 2 bass drivers, I expected a bit more quantity and impact. Will a custom fit improve the low part of the bass significantly? Should I try the Merlin to see if a dynamic driver could do much better in the bass department? Also, if I order a Mage, is it possible to ask UM to tune up the bass a bit?

Hi

We are glad you liked the UM Mage

We do agree that the universal fit demo do not fit very well and the fit do affect the overall sound of the IEM especially the bass, in most cases our customers who purchased UM CIEM reported deeper and more extended bass with a wider and more spacious sound on the custom unit over the universal demo, however because everyone’s ear shape are different it’s hard to judge how much and what kind of difference you are going to hear on a customized unit, only the user himself/ herself will know :s8:

The Merlin does have stronger bass and a more spacious sound but vocals are more laid backed compared to the Mage, we would advice you to come down to our stores to try and compare them again :D

UM does not allow request of the sound to be changed example tuning up the bass ;)
