How many of the companies really look at how long you finish your degree? And the modules you take? I think most of them really look at your working experience first, then your educational level.

There are friends that tell me as long as you have a paper. It's the entry of interviews the rest is based on your working experience. How you sell yourself in the interview.

Made it seem like the grads from the local uni all dumb dumb lol...

Unfortunately I do believe (I have no proof) that company will look at the duration of a degree or else every uni grad will get the same pay as the local unis...I also doubt unisim / mdis grad will get same starting pay as nus/ntu/smu


Besides university, I think there are also private diploma that are about 6-8mths ...I think no uni, part-time uni, overseas uni will consider that as a real diploma thus I know from my friend that private diploma holders will still need to go for advance diploma then uni.(This also tells you something that duration of a course matters).

really depends on which sector, which industry and which company you apply to. some HR or interviewing managers might ask the duration if they are not familiar with your degree. so many short cut or top up degrees now, definitely they are in the know and will ask.

but if you have relevant working experience, it will of course be advantageous.

say now, other candidates have rather similar working experiences as well, the next thing in consideration is your degree. lesser known and shorter degrees will lose out.

we cannot predict the situation during interviews but what we can do is to safeguard yourself with choices made beforehand.

Yeah I totally agree. The Kaplan's "12 months top-up degree" always seem so dubious.

For business related jobs that I have applies, there are interviewers looking at how long I finish my course but strange thing is they do not see my modules.

For engineering related jobs that I have applies, there are interviewers looking at how long I finish my course & what are the modules I take for the course.

And yes, I do have working experiences when I apply for those positions.

You will be surprise when it come to offering basic salary to fresh graduate sometime =X
