hi all

im in a dilemma now. UniSim (local school) requires 3-4years to complete and have lots of modules to clear whereas comparing to private school. those schools course fee are roughly the same. private school like kaplan only requires 1.5years to finish the program. i had a dip in ECE ngee ann poly with 2 years working experience so no issue enrolling unisim. I also hear private schools easy to pass. other than this teaching environment and community, unisim should be better than private which relaying much on self studying. i just checked with my HR , she said the company dont really judge which school you get your cert from base on ur experience and knowledge then offer you the salary. such thing turn abit sour when my 3yrs dip getting same pay and same postion with my another colleague which done his private dips in 1yr.

1) Since when a distance learning (private) degree is easy to get and graduate? Since a local or private degree is the same, must as well get a private degree faster to climb up your corporate ladder? Just update us if private degree is as easy as what you hear other claim?

2) I don't think your HR or Hiring Manager will employ your colleague who is holding a Private Diploma the same salary as you for the same position if both of you are fresh graduate without any working experience.

well done answering your own question.

1 - your coy hr doesn't care where u get your degree, compensation depends on your experience.
2 - your poly diploma getting same pay same position as private diploma.

So according to your own experiences, unless you are taking up specific degree like social work, you can just go for the shortest degree which is Kaplan.

indeed i might look into Kaplan instead of unisim. still considering whether to pick up the offer by unisim or not. really a tough call here.

Was in your position upon ORD. My GPA could enter NUS or NTU. Then I figured I can't buy time. So I went with Kaplan. Deciding factor for which course was to look at the ranking and the school itself. I chose Murdoch since my gf might be moving to Aussie for work soon.
