Sales charge vary depend on where you buy the unit trust from. Buy from dollardex then its 0%, buy from banks up to 5%.

Admin fees, never heard of such things. Maybe insurance companies charge such rubbish but in general no such things.

Trailer fees is what the fund managers pay to those companies you buy the unit trusts from. Its not directly charged to you.

You only need to care about sales charge. Buy from dollardex then no sales charge.

I am planning to buy from dbs. This is what available from dbs website. I read also entry fee, exit fee and so on.

What are the transaction fees/ charges involved?

Generally, there are 3 types of transaction fees/charges:

Sales charge
For unit trust with net asset value (NAV) pricing, an initial sales charge will be deducted from the investment amount. This is a fee charged by the bank for its services in facilitating the processing of unit trust investments. For unit trusts with bid / offer pricing, the initial sales charge is already factored into the offer price.
Annual management fee
This is an annual fee charged by the fund manager for their management of the unit trust.
Trustee fee
This is the annual fee charged by the trustee for the provision of custody services of the unit trust’s asset

If you buy on DBS online platform then you are paying 0.82% sales charge fees, the rest of the management fees etc are all build into the NAV so you do not have the be concern about being charged for you. You won't see that.

Thanks. I understand that .82% sales charge will be deducted from my initial investment and units will be allocted. Will the no of units get shrinked every year for paying those management fees?

Nope, it will just be deducted from the NAV so the price will rise slower as part of it goes to pay the fees.

You means 0.5% and not 5% right? If you are paying 5%, you need a new bank and new RM.

If you walk into a bank and buy from the sales person there then its possible to end up with sales charges of 5%. That is the upper limit of sales charge and also what despicable sales person charge those ignorant people. My mother was personally charged 3.5% sales charges a few years ago before I take over the management of her investments.

Many thanks. I am into monthly payout. Do you know other unit trusts that gives monthly payouts like 5% or more and lesser management fees. I am still looking at dbs website.

I think POEMS cheaper because FSMOne charges platform fee of between 0.05% to 0.0875% per quarter. POEMS does not charge platform fee.
Both have 0% sales charge.

If you really want to invest in UTs instead of ETFs, and you don't need inhouse 'advise', then you should at least go with POEMS or DollarDex.

DBS has custodian fees of 0.20% p.a.?
Not sure about POEMS?

Ut got custodian fee one meh? I thought dbs ut is around 0.82% sales charge only? Poems is 0% sales charge. Have been doing rsp using poems. Also, redeem a few times before. I feel rsp for ut is better than shares cos rsp shares got commission. But i have not done detailed comparison on rsp ut and stocks charges yet, including expense ratio.

Not sure because that is the impression I get that all foreign AUM investment is subject to custody fee? (since I don't buy UT from DBST).

how is this "AB SICAV I Low Volatility Equity Port - AD - SGD - Hedged - Mdis - Cash"

Hello, It's easy to find charts, info and investment ideas of single stocks online but not really the case for UT. Therefore, I just created this account to share my inputs regarding UT. As for this fund, I have done a probability analysis base on its full-fledged data since inception. Not a crystal ball of the future, but it gives a good idea on whether to place your bets on. I have also created an Instagram and Twitter account to share my thoughts on other funds.

Agree and I did do with POEMS because the 0% was a bit too hard to resist to try, and POEMS is a trusted brand after all.. Been in the market for donkey years. Just hope they don’t end up charging platform fees later and that they will be comfortable with trailer fees.

Bank RM tried to pitch, but asking for 2% charge, couldn’t bring myself to pay because the advisory was ... meh.. Ask for discount, say have to put 200K, 1%. I know these charges can anyhow adjust, but apparently cannot go below Internet Banking.
