Unknown Roaming SMS Charges

Anyone has and managed to solve this issue?

i kept having roaming SMS charges while overseas even with iMessage and Facetime Disabled

I kena too, best way to deal w this is to change your msg centre number. So that it creates an error and the msg doesnt go out. Cons is that u cant receive sms as well.

I think turning on/off iMessage/Facetime will cause your iPhone to send an text to Apple. So best is dont adjust any setting when you are in oversea.

Whenever you change your SIM card your iMessage/Facetime needs to be re-registered with Apple. And that's done by SMS.

Or just tap "No" when prompted to setup iMessage.
You'll be disconnected from iMessage when you swap out SIM cards. So I suppose it wouldn't make a difference anyway if you hit no.

There wasnt a "No". Only "OK" and "Cancel". I tapped on cancel. Still kena...

switched to Singtel. for the past >6 months.
I no longer get such charges when i swap sim card in china.

looks like M1 unethically charge customer knowing it's activation for imessage and facetime.

i left Circles Life because of this bug

Using Starhub now - i still receive that annoying popup message from time to time, but I haven't been charged for any overseas SMS

Suspect it's my apple ID and/or iphone that is screwed up

PS: i've never been able to activate my imessage - there's always been an error when i've tried

Oh looks like Singtel is waiving the charging for FaceTime/iMessage activation

For a moment I was under the assumption that Apple had an activation server here locally hence no more such fees.

no...I have been charged with Singtel recently for clicking on the "yes" too fast...

stupid apple, why are they still using SMS to activate that ?? serious bug that they doesnt admit...

Deactivate iMessage before travel to avoid the sms roaming.

But yea its stupid to use sms to activate, especially those who use imessage regularly.

actually I disabled all the while but they still attempt to send...stupid apple..

I deactivated becos imessage have bug if you try to send sms to someone who was previously using apple..the message can never be sent as a normal SMS...
