I'm planning to buy an unlocked iPhone 5 from Japan (information from my friend). But I've never heard about unlocked iPhone from Japan :-?
Any one know about it, plz give me suggestion? Any problem with carriers in Singapore, especially SingTel?

The bandwidth for Japan is different. They are using the CDMA rather then gsm or 4G.

As far as I know, Japan does not sell unlocked phones. All phones are tied to the carriers and a contract. I hear this from a friend working in Japan.....

From official stores, yes all are locked to their carriers. But I am sure there are some shops which sell those 'leaked' unlocked versions in some markets.

Take it that I am cynical. TS first post and date joined is Oct 2013. Confirmed tye chop that is a clone and he has found an iPhone with security apps activated.
