Hi Guys,

Today my day has gotten even more crappier thanks to the reply from the shop that they and even Xiaomi China cant unlock my phone. Heres the story that started just before June.

I recently got an imported mobile phone(Xiaomi) online from Shopee(Mecurytech). Anyway the phone was working fine until i tried registering my mobile number into the phone to create recovery phone, It has to verify my mobile number by sending an sms, the thing is that i couldnt receive any verification sms to my phone or my wife's phone. and tried many times.

I decided maybe i could do a hard reset on the phone so i can start again. but after i reset the phone, it booted up and it was locked and said i had to provide a password that was registered to the phone. The thing is that there is no password, cause i couldnt receive any verification, so didnt even setup an account linked to that phone.

I had contacted Xiaomi Sg, Xiaomi Global for help and bouncing emails with them for about 1 month about 35emails, without being able to solve the problem, the seller then asked me to pass him the phone so that he can send it back to china. 2 months now, today the seller has informed me that Xiaomi isnt able to help, cause the number registered on the phone isnt even mine thats why Xiaomi China isnt able to help, and he will be sending the phone back to me. Now im left with a $1300 new brick. Is there anything or anyone that knows how to unbrick this phone?...

Did you buy Mi11 brand new or 2nd-hand used phone? I suspect this is an used phone.
When rebooted, is there a small unlock sign above the Redmi wording?
If yes, someone had registered the phone to a Mi account and unlock the bootloader.

You have to look for the Russian dude who does EDL flash. He charges around $25usd to unbrick your phone...

Thanks for the replies guys, ill just wait for the phone to return back to SG, i have done alot of googling around but i just find it hard to trust some of those sites, especially when it comes to "hacking "the phone. But if its legit and not a scam, then i wouldn't mind trying, as long as i can return the phone into its original state as i intend to sell it off after this. too much crappy experience just from day 1.

Phone is brand new, only thing is seller helped me installed Google play store as i just wanted the ease of access when i got the phone.

My Mobile number was registered into the phone/mi acc, but couldn't complete the setup/password cause of the verification process, so i couldn't even set a password but the number was already locked into the phone

you got scammed by shop. It is not a brand new set, otherwise that wouldn't happen. Always buy sealed. its not hard to install google stuff on china rom.

I bought a handphone from a shop at race course road before. that shop has so many shopee accounts under different names, but all same address. The shop sell refurbished xiaomi at brand new price. Having a sealed packaging means nothing, because you can re-seal it with plastic.

The first one I had was already bootloader unlocked, then had screen issue. the shop replaced it and the second one died a few months later. Luckily only $180 gone.

If you want to spend 1.3k on phone? why not go thru proper channel? Trying to save a few dollars turn out to be a huge loss

I'm sorry to read your bad experience but I also bought 1 set from Mercurytech and they sent me sealed set and I downloaded Google playstore myself which is in the China app store but now my phone was flashed to EU ROM by a brother here.

I think the shop that install google play store may have use their mi account to tie to the phone and forget to remove device from mi account then perform a reset will usually required the previous account to unlock phone. This happen to my daughters old Redmi note 5 also.

Try to power on your phone when u got it back, if 🔓 means already pre-registered before passing it to you.

@TS, ever thought of research on miraclebox or miraclethunder to unlock?
I used it on an old oppo hp and manage to clear the lock and force to flash the unit but urs is a very new model so maybe not avail yet.

my PC must have saved the Mi ID when i was trying to register the account on to my PC in the beginning.that Mi account couldnt even be verified when i tried to link my mobile number to the account. thats when i tried to hard reset the phone, causing it to get locked

so afterall, the phone was locked to your own MI ID.

wah really a few months of trouble for nothing. but then again, come to think of it, even it's your own phone, Xiaomi China still refuse to unlock your phone. it goes to Xiaomi privacy protection is as good as apple.
