Unstable PC and reinstalling windows

Hi Bros

My 6 year PC which I DIYed with AMD chip is somewhat unstable at times. I used to get BSOD but that is gone when I change the 4G ram to another slot. But however if I do CPU intensive duties like conversion of video files or ripping Blu Ray the PC might crash.

In order to solve the issue I was thinking to get a new SSD and reintall my Windows on it.

Question here is whether i can reinstall windows on a new SSD, will MS stop me from doing so as I have used the authorisation code? I was thinking if the issue is still there I will have to build a new rig and use that SSD back.

Your issue maybe due to hardware problem rather than OS/software. Check cpu/gpu temperature with hwmonitor.exe

If your OS is OEM version, then you need to call for new key.

it maybe ur hdd or ram. after 6 years of use its time to change them alrdy. u try to activate with ur cd key. if u cant then call them and say that ur hdd is faulty. they will give u a new access key.

I have changed the RAM to a new 4g stick. I suspect the mobo.

I just would like to rescue this PC as I have a LG Blu Ray / HD DVD drive that I would like to continue to use but that one is not supported by Windows7. I am running Vista now.

u can just reinstall and activate. oem keys are tied down to your mobo.

if u suay cannot activate, just use phone activation.

In what circumstance MS will allow me to reinstall os? What if its a completely new rig and that I don't use the older rig?
