if there were 5 cards from uob to intro, what would u choose?

Only like 1 - 2 UOB cards.

But, if there were 5 cards from UOB to intro, then:
1) UOB ONE
2) UOB Delight
3) UOB Metro
4) UOB Visa Signature
5) UOB Visa Infinite

Try to use those cards by charging at least $20/month. In this way, GIRO takes effect without further monitoring. Making payment before hand runs the risk of making excessive payment such that GIRO will not be triggered at all.

Successful GIRO applications can be seen in UOB internet banking.
This may take 2-3 weeks (if UOB is the billing organisation), or 6-8 weeks (if a town council is the billing organisation).

3 billing organisations are not enough; 5 would be safer in case the unexpected happens.
How to see successful GIRO applications in UOB internet banking?
Or you mean only when the deduction is made?

If the status of GIRO is 'Active', it almost always means the application is successful.

To locate this status, go to UOB internet banking/Pay and transfer/Upcoming payments/Upcoming Transfers & Payments/GIRO/.

Once the status is 'Active', there is a very high chance that deductions will be made successfully too.

I am self employed thus don't have salary.

Which bank offers the best interest rate for me?

I have no problem spending $500-$800 on cc every month and bill payment / giro etc..

But I realised "Active" only meant that UOB has okay-ed the GIRO, but the billing organisation may or may not have done so.

This is especially with BOC, who is super slow.

Yes, that's true.

Some billing organisations mail out letters, confirming that the GIRO set up is successful.
Indeed, the status of 'Active' AND the receipt of that letter signal that the GIRO is 100% ready.

You're at this thread, what do you think?

for non investment interest rate, boc offers the best, follows by ocbc 360/premium dividend, and then uob1

hahaha best in town now is BOC smartsaver (2.55%) or UOB1 account (2.43%) for your profile, hahaha

But BOC smartsaver is faster to setup to start earning the interest as UOB1 requires giro which takes longer to setup. BOC just do 3 bill payment can liao, moi opened yesterday by today already secured 2.55% interest hahaha

hahaha, u cannot see or rely on internet banking lor, your giro application is successful and will be triggered only after u receive a letter from the billing organisation telling u when it will start or if it is for credit card bill payment - when u receive the statement with info stated that giro payment will be made to your UOB1 account, hahaha, for some billing organisations they dun tell u but u will know when u see the payment posted to your bank account lor, hahaha

May I check with you guys, "Cash Rebate-Overseas Spending" is back for UOB OneCard? My latest statement shows i got a rebate of $1.05 for the spending of $30.89(RM90.01) in Malaysia. That is equivalent to (1.05/30.89)*100%=3.399%.

If overseas rebate is back, this makes it worthwhile as the rebate will compensate for the lousy exchange rate. :s8:

Don't think it is back. The % don't make sense either. Maybe rebate for other reason?
