Hi,

Just want to check... how do we know if we are credited with the correct uni$ for our expenditure? I saw some posts that some hotel restaurants don't offer the extra uni$ from the preferred amex card until some of you guys called in before they credit the points to you.

I did a spreadsheet for last month's expenditure and break down to SPC, overseas spending and online spending, putting in the formulas and the points accordingly. (I was out the entire month and put all my expenditure to 1 card)

I should get 45 uni$ for SPC, 4435 for overseas and 64 for online. (using uob priv miles card only). The total should sum up to 4544. However my statement shows 4479. I called the hotline, the cso went through and calculated also that I should get 4544. When questioned why is it different from my statement, I was given the answer that the points are not credited into the system yet, that they are on a separate system. The points will be credited into my statement next month. I was also told that I could check the no. of points via the online system which is a crappy idea as there is no way to verify if the points are awarded correctly because there will sure be new transactions causing the numbers to change and thus losing track.

The CSO sounded frustrated that I do not accept his answer that I can track my most current points online. He mentioned that he will go to the product group about why the points crediting date and the posting date cannot tie together before the statement is sent out to me but can't give me a timeline when to expect a feedback.

My question is how do you guys verify that you get the correct points as I am going to move my main expenditure to UOB pref amex and visa for local expenditures to clock for miles?

Thanks.

I use a spreadsheet as well to keep track of the points. Once the transaction is posted online in the Internet Banking, the points are credited. I go to the Rewards page to see my total UNI$ from all cards. So far, it's always been correct for me.

Wow, this would cause you much effort. Normally I just look at the rough number and don't really check until transaction level.

When are the points posted? Same day as your transaction?

I tend to check 1-2 times when i jump onto a program to ensure things are alright then i take them as they come.....

There is a 1-2 day lag between the transaction being posted and the points being credited. So, even the totals on the internet portal is not exactly the same.

This is also why there will be a discrepency in your statement, esp if you have transactions about a day or two from the statement date.

If you have bonus points for some promotion, this is usually credited after the promotion ends.

Frankly, it's tough to track that closely and for me, if the number is roughly there, I'm fine with it. I assume something hasn't been updated and it will be done by next month. Yet to go down to spreadsheet and transaction level calculations... :p

Once I managed to get the spreadsheet formula worked out, it's pretty simple as just filling in the blanks. So it's easier for me now. =:p

So far of all my cards, only the points from DBS Woman's card does not tally. Will probably need to email them (I like their email system in the Internet Banking page).

So far for me, once the transaction is posted, all points (1x or 10x) are credited. Haven't experienced the promotional ones yet though. Probably have to wait for a while for those to be credited.

Took me sometime to get the formulas to calculate correctly for my Citibank, UOB, and DBS cards. Had to enquire with the banks to find out how points are calculated and rounded off. :s22:

2 possible reasons.

1) Some transaction done on the last 2 days of the month which will be capture next month. Does that match to the missing UN$ for your?

2) Extra UN$ from overseas spending will be posted a few months down the road.

Btw, I'm using DBS Altitude Visa.

In excel file, column A is your spending
in column B1, formula is =ROUNDDOWN(A1/5,0)
so that you know for every $5 you spent, you get UNI$1. if you spent $6, it's still UNI$1 until you spent at least $10, you get UNI$2.

So in column C,
if you have a PRIVI card and spent locally, you multiply Column B by 4.
if you have a PRIVI card and spent in overseas, multiply by 6.25 (in Column D?)

Do you get points for UOB PRVI Miles cards at SPC?

Saw this at AMEX website:- XO Weekends

4UOB American Express Card
5x UNI$ is not applicable to Cold Storage, Jasons, Market Place and SPC outlets for UOB PRVI American Express Card. UOB PRVI American Express Cardmembers earn a 3% rebate for every S$100 spent. Please visit Personal Banking for details.

Or is it another old card no longer reflected in UOB website?

You spend a lot on overseas right? I also face the same issue. The points does not match up, a few percent off. My conclusion is that they do not give points for the foreign currency extra charges that they add on so that's why there is some points less. Forget it, don't waste your time over that little points.

I was just checking the points this time since i am thinking of loading all purchases to uob cards...when 5% discounts are not available/applicable.

hmm... guess its not gonna be a true match like hwmook mentioned...
since the last 2 transactions are worth 56 points each but i was missing 65 in total.
