Anyone else applying for the very first intake?

I thinking of registering as institution-supported learning but study on my own instead.

Almost half the price.

:)

They got 2 semesters April and October. It is not self paced in that sense.

You can hear the latest webinar here

If you want to apply, you only got 2 more days left.

i actually emailed them

my intention was to take selective mods cause i thought it might be interesting

apparently it's not possible to just sign up for mods. have to enrol in the full degree program, and have a maximum of 6 years to complete.

how is this degree better than the other distance learning ones (e.g. Kaplan Murdoch) that require shorter duration?

For me, these are the pros:

1) UOL brand is the strongest among all the distance learning degrees
2) This is the first Computer Science major they offer. SIM teaches a UOL BSc Computing and Information Systems, which feels weaker than Computer Science
3) About $15k cheaper than the SIM one
4) Flexible schedule compared to the full time SIM one

There are also some cons:

1) Online nature not as effective as in class teaching

With regards to the duration, the SIM UOL one does grant 1 yr exemption if you already have a full fledged IT diploma, so you could look at that one instead.

If you want selective mods, the Udacity nanodegrees might be a better fit. They are pretty interesting too.

from what i see, this is directly from UOL

and you have the chance to transfer on campus from year 2 onwards, if u want that on campus experience.

means you can finish year 1 and 2 online, and do year 3 on campus. graduate on campus.

I got my offer letter in February 2019 but will only register for October semester.

Luckily I got my scholarship from them worth 7500 pounds. So I can just apply for this course else 400 pounds(Band A, Malaysia) for me is very jialak.

I also got my Google IT support professional certificate on Coursera within 3 days which allow me to exempt one of the module 'How Computer Works'(Another 400 pounds saved).

Just not sure how the degree worth, but I think it is better than nothing to own one degree.
