looks like last gen netgear design, whereas netgear is following the N56, 66 series design.

prob very similar to the AC66U? *in terms of the hardware

ASUS RT-AC56U

Finally? 1GHz ARM Cortex A9 dual core? hehe

Asus RT-AC56U ~ BCM4708 + BCM4352 2 x 2 802.11ac 867Mbps (5GHz) + 300Mbps (2.4GHz)

At the center of the device is a high-performance 1 GHz ARM® Cortex™-A9 dual-core with a 32 KB four-way set associative instruction cache, a 32 KB four-way set associative data cache, and a 128-entry translation lookaside buffer (TLB). Enhanced CPU memory subsystem architecture provides increased system performance. The device uses state-of-the-art 40 nm technology.

Will ac56u be better than ac66u?

Performance indicators can't be reveal until the product is shipped

I haven't really seen the preliminary performance indicators as yet

Supposedly it's better? :D At the heart is the ARM Cortex A9 Dual Core (1GHz) vs MIPS32® 74K Core (600 MHz)

I like the look of this router. The current N66/AC66 layout with the stand is very tough on the LAN cable head. Are there right angle LAN heads similar to the SATA cable?
