Haro buddies
I need to upgrade my computer not because it's slow but because I want more USB3 and high speed SATA ports. I play games like alpha protocol, nights of azure, deus ex, senran kagura, the new wolfenstein etc and I think the speed is fine, poto editing speed is a bit slow when I edit 4000x6000 photos but still bearable. But I really need the ports because I have 4x external 8tb drives and a lot of SSDs and now I use a usb 3 hub to connect and all the bandwidth is shared on one usb channel.

My current setup

Core i3 3220 3.3ghz
Gigabyte B75M-HD3 (only 2 USB 3 ports and 1 high speed SATA, +4 USB2 ports and 5 low speed SATA)
8gb DDR3 ram
PSU seasonic 350w I think
AMD Radeon R7 200
500gb Samsung SSD (I have another 500gb SSD somewhere I can reuse)
4 8TB drives in a DAS

Are there any better setups I can get for around $1000? For poto editing mostly, but if I play games it will be similar to this.
I want to reuse as much as I can.. possible?

Get a R7 2700 with z470 board and 16GB of ram. Total most like ard 1k? But still think they u should get at least a 500w PSU just in case you want to play OC.

When I Google for z470 board hardly anything comes up. Is it an old design?
Also I 2ant to reuse my case if possible, a fractal design matx case.

It's X470, not Z470. :)

OK, should I wait for ryzen 2 then? Any significant benefit? For me the most important is must have a board with many high speed ports because now very hard to copy 8tb to and fro on low speed and I also suspect my USB ports have a problem, always disconnected during copying.

I'm still using the MSI Z97 Gaming 5 + i7 4790k + G.Skill Ripjaws V 16GB (2x 8 GB) (Dual Channel Kit) 1866MHz DDR3 combo from Nov 2014 with some upgrades along the way (980 TI, Acer Predator xb271hu etc) =>

If you are looking to game at Very high - Ultra @1440p preset w/ 1440p 144hz monitor, don't mind newer motherboard from 2017, new gpu ( GTX 1080 TI :D) newer DDR4 technology for rams, new I7 8th Gen Cpu (I7 8700k) maybe have a look at the MSI Z370 Gaming Pro Carbon AC :s11:

Im holding out until 2020. Current rig from late Nov 2014 is still good to go in 2018.

I am eyeing the ryzen 3 2200g because it seems slightly faster than my I3 3220. It is $142. Why is it cheaper than the ryzen 3 1200, 1300? Also any good mb to go with it? I want to minimize power consumption too.

Maybe u might want to Google if ppl using r3 doing the similar work as u. See their opinion ands their thoughts of going such build? If not go for mid specs build. And your board still best get either b450 or x470 for all those disks u want to connect.

Because for x470 board the price jumps a lot and also no matx ver. Really so good? I saw the asrock ab350m board, got 6 USB 3.1 behind, $100 only, looks good

Hijack thread a little, would like to seek advice for PC building as well since my rig is staring to malfunction after 6+ years.

Primarily for work ((mostly)MS Office , (less often) Photoshop, Video editing) but I do game at mid-low resolution (CS:GO, Starcraft 2, Overwatch) . I would like to ask which platform would be ideal for this (Intel / AMD) and is it true that both of these platforms have on board GPU nowadays which i can temporary use or is onboard GPU dependent on the motherboard?

I belong to the Sandy Bridge era.

I am waiting for GTX1170 to come out before purchasing but I do need a system to do day to day work at the moment.

Would hope to future proof it a little as well as I am looking forward to playing Devil May Cry 5 on PC when it is released next year (I will get my GPU then).

Will be reusing SSD, Monitor, Keyboard and mouse. Everything else will have to buy (except GPU).

If I'm not mistaken, all intel cpu comes with integrated gpu. Not all amd cpu has integrated gpu.

If that so, use r3 2200g is more than enough for u. Comes with Vega 8 (igpu)decent for mid settings for those games u playing.

Buy from Newegg, ship via ezbuy. That's how I do it though.

Find Samsung B-die kits.

Alternatively, ask Corbell indent some G.Skill ones, but pretty expensive though. Just to let you know.
