upgrade hdd in pc.

how need some advise on how to upgrade my desktop hdd.. running out of space.

currently running 640gb wd black. partition into c and d drive.

intend to buy 1 2tb wd black to clone. how can i do it easily?
will also want to partition the 2tb black into c and d drive.

i do not want to re-install windows 7 (need to call up ms for activation) and reinstall my other software...

Can use Acronis backup to clone your new disk.

Some disk comes with the program free. Otherwise download program with free usage for 30 days.

btw, if i buy another sata drive, i can just hook it up to my motherboard? no need to set jumper or stuffs like that?

Haha still living in the jumper days? Nope just find an empty SATA port and use. But best to check the manual and use the native SATA controller, some boards have an extra controller to add more ports. Usually ports 0-3 (1-4) are native

If you clone the entire drive I believe there is no need for reactivation. I also think it's better to partition the drive before cloning so the disk cloning software is aware of the set up and does it correctly.

thanks for the tips.... yar.. the rast time is all pata drive...
my current pc that is fixed 4 years ago is the first sata drive i use and i've never add additional sata drive to it.
