IDE HDD is a technology last seen maybe 10 years ago. During that time, was there 1 TB IDE HDD?

And do the BIOS and WinXP have any trouble recognizing HDD above certain capacity?

You need to research a bit.

Not so old. Many be 5 years back still have.

Think is Samsung...forget liao.
The cloning is the 2nd part....the 1st part is getting the HDD...which the system board can recognize.
I think most can only go 80GB nia.
Any higher might require a bios flash which I dun wish to attempt.....:(

HP Compaq business desktop. You can run DXDIAG for system info.

The model number should be on the PC itself. You can search by model number for the specs.

Try CPU-Z, there is a motherboard's tab to display the information of the motherboard.

Yes....simple enuff.....except need to get IT admin to log in in order to install.....

Got try using the ZIP version of CPU-Z? I understand that it is portable, no need to install.

Only prob then is whether you can download and unzip the file onto the desktop to use, or whether you can run any program from an USB thumbdrive.

I used to have an external HDD closure that uses IDE drives. At least using this, u can connect it to a newer PC to copy ur stuffs out.

Buying new IDE drives shld be quite challenging liao. Ur best bet is to buy 2nd hand IDE HDD from eBay or Carousell

If die die still want to use the PC, might as well plug in a new USB HDD and use it "permanently" for data.
