Upgrade my Rig

Hi guys,

i would like some recommendations in which part to upgrade my rig (specs on the right)

I bought it back in 2014 which was the budget $1k gaming desktop at that pt.

Some of my thoughts

1. I would not be playing any high intensive games. i think the only high intensive game in my library now is wolfenstein.

2. i'm upgrading due to long waiting time of programs. (mainly due to no SSD)

3. i'll be multi-tasking quite a bit, including the resource-intensive Bluestacks. (guess ill be buying some more rams)

4. Casing fans kinda stop working occasionally, plus the metal grids are rusty


Parts to buy

1. SSD (Samsung Evo 250GB)
2. Ram (8gb or 16gb i dunno)
3. Casing (pls recommend me one. OR replacement fans)

But overall, would the above 2 items contribute in a faster and smoother experience
or
do i need to upgrade my entire rig if u were to deem my current rig as outdated?

just upgrade your ssd will do. ssd improvement over hdd is like night and day

i browse thru the brochure and i found out that there's another type of ssd called the m2.

should i get the m2 or the normal one?

Normal SATA one. Ur B85 does not have a M.2 slot

If exactly the same. get the 860. The only thing the 860 has over the 850 is better endurance of read-write (only relevant if u are someone who writes very large amount of data per day like a video editor etc)

Normal SATA one. Ur B85 does not have a M.2 slot

or u can do like me, get an adapter card for M.2 $7 online, as u can move it later to your new pc where mb will have 2 or more M.2 slots which is neat and clean with no need of cables.

actually if i were you, i would just get something cheaper like a WD ssd, take the savings and treat ownself to a good meal.

I mean..on paper the 860 evo is faster and all but when it comes to real life performance, the difference between the name brand ssds are like a few seconds apart during boot up, more or less equally snappy when doing stuff like web browsing etc.

so..see what u prioritize on orh
