I want to build a new PC using my existing DDR3 RAMs, PSU from my old PC. I do much multi-tasking like video conversion, transferring large files on home network, browsing the internet at same instance. Can anyone suggest which MB and CPU I should use on my new PC? Thank you.

Personally, I think it's the right time to jump on the DDR4 ram wagon, the price is reasonable enough for me already.

If you want to stick with DDR3, you'll have to go with Haswell CPU and 1150 chipset MB. For DDR4, it's Skylake CPU and 1151 MB.

I thought I can save some money on RAM as I have 24G of DDR3 and the PSU may be just 6 months old. The objective is I do not have to wait for system slow response when transferring large files and doing video conversions at same instance. I had read there's not much significant difference btw DDR3 and DDR4. Other things like casing, MB, CPU will need to change. I am not into gaming hence I would prefer to use embed graphic chip on MB.
Would appreciate further advice, Thank you.

Someone had just recommended using Z97-K + i7 4790K which are compatible with DDR3. Any comment?

Not using SSD, I thought SSD is just increase the initial booting up. Would SSD improve overall performance of the system?

beside boot up its also decrease the loading time for most of the software applications.

its very useful for people who wants to do video editing and rendering 3d programs. and some time people needs to transfer large files.

Currently I am using a Cooler Master casing with 2 external 3.5" HD slots. I wonder there is anymore new casing with external HD slots. I also need to change my casing as fans are not working.

may i know the models? and i will say no more casing with external hd slots.
ur casing fan not working is not because of the casing, most probably is lose cables or maybe its really not work, just get a new case replacement.

I do not know what model is the casing. It has 2 3.5" HD slots at the top of the casing. I am thinking since I will engage someone to rebuild a new/upgrade the desktop. I might as well change the casing since contacts of the USBs are also worn out.
