is it possible to upgrade the wifi card for my old asus ul80vt laptop?

currently the laptop is still using the original 2.4ghz-only wifi card.

thinking of getting a dual band wifi card so that my laptop can finally go wireless-ac... or at least 5ghz wireless-n.

is it possible? any specific wifi card model to recommend?

im also thinking of doing the same thing. worse, my laptop claims to have gigabit speed but just found out recently it can only reach 100mbps speed updown max. i went to challenger a few weeks back n the salesguy said can get the usb adapter. if u wana have wireless ac then must get an ac router too. i havent tried it out. no money. lol.

Should be possible, but check this. If you can, replace with Intel AC 7260 card.

1. If google isnt wrong, ar9285 is 2T2R. Thus your notebook should not have issue with the card.

2. If is asus, I dont remember ASUS having wifi black / white list

normally will works if the 2T2R is similar, I change the one in my MSI to Intel 7260ac with no problem after installing the required drivers

thx for the offer but for that price i would rather just spent a little more money and get a usb wireless-ac adapter.

not willing to commit too much money for a 4+ year old laptop.

I think you meant it the other way around.

I paid $30 for the card and fix it free by myself.

If you can do the upgrade on your own, by all means do it.
We are offering service and warranty for those who are unsure on the compatibility and are not technical savy enough to do the upgrades. :)
