Hi all,

Here are my current PC specs,

Motherboard: B450 AORUS PRO WIFI
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor, 3600 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 12 Logical Processor(s)
Graphics Card: ASUS ROG Strix NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 16 GB 2400MHz (2x8GB)
Storage: Samsung SSD 970 EVO 250GB, SSD 860 EVO 500GB x2
Monitor: HUAWEI MateView GT 34" (3440 x 1440@100 Hz)

i'm torn between upgrading or buying new PC.
my current PC is ok, i play games like RDR2, Baldur's Gate 3 etc.

If you were me, would you buy a new one or upgrade?
If upgrade, what would you upgrade?
If buy, what would a significant step-up from my current specs look like?

Appreciate the help!

Frankly speaking, probably only the gpu, maybe the ram?

If you are feeling rich, then CPU would be up your alley although going for 5800x3d a mobo upgrade would be advisable.

Those game you don't really need a CPU, maybe you can consider:

1) Upgrade the RAM to DDR4 3200 or DDR4 3600.
Ryzen 5 3600 RAM speed it support is DDR4 3200 so to run at DDR4 2400
will severly bottleneck it from running at it's peak.

2) Update motherboard BIOS (If you don't know or not comfortable doing this step. Skip)

3) Do a clean install of WIndows than install latest AMD Chipset driver from AMD website.
Latest AMD chipset have AMD Ryzen power plan which help to optimize the Ryzen 5 3600
performance.

For this specs I doubt can run smoothly at 4K so you may have to tone down the setting or resolution.

The first to upgrade would be GPU, at 4K it's going to be GPU limited before the CPU gets limited.

The second to upgrade will be CPU, 5800X3D will give a nice boost to 1% low fps, and negates the effect of slow RAM. It's raw performance is at R5 7600X to R7 7700 level (depending on the game played).

The last to upgrade will be RAM, a pair of 3600MHz 16GB x2 will last a long way.

The above is basically my upgrade path, from R5 3600, GTX 1060 6GB and DDR4 3000 8GB x2 to R7 5800X3D, 7900XTX and DDR4 3600 16GB x2, all on a B450 ITX mobo
