Hi all, my current rig is as such and facing bottlenecking on new titles like cod MW. Possible to upgrade CPU? since it's always on 100% usage

Current specs:
i5-4460
GTX970
Asrock H81M-HDS 2.0
8gb ram 1600MHZ
FSP 500W PSU

Thank you for the advice!

GPU and ram first.

If you change CPU, mean you need to change motherboard as well

1) gpu upgrade
Or
2) overhaul

I'm more in favor of an overhaul between the 2 for your situation.

depends on your budget.

for the cheapest fix with most effect on your fps would be ram and gpu.

But i honestly do not recommend that option as in a year or two your processor would not be enough for you to play triple A titles.

A better way would be to revamp your whole build but reuse the Storage(if you have an ssd) and gpu. The gtx970 is still a pretty decent card. I would recommend a Ryzen 5 build if you have the budget to do so. A ryzen 3600 with a motherboard and 16gb 2666mhz ram would most probably put you back 600 ish

Is a ryzen really worth it now? I have someone offering me i3 and i5 processors for cheaper price.

Thanks in advance for the advice!

Depends.

If you're only looking for a chip upgrade/want to reuse DDR3 ram or something like that, it may make some sense to still consider intel. Otherwise, ryzen is king right now.

i3 is not worth considering. i5-4670K or i5-4690K will give you a slight increase in CPU performance but probably not a worthwhile upgrade from the i5-4460.

The 4460 can't take multi threaded modern games.

Rather u do complete overhaul new rig, eg ryzen 3600. Maybe can reuse the 970 temporarily until rtx3k series come out...

Change the whole thing. Too outdated liao.

Your processor and RAM are huge bottleneck.
