Hello guys,

would like to get some advice if I should change or upgrade my entire rig. budget about 800-1k. I was thinking maybe can just change my gfx to gtx 1070 and change my monitor to something newer.

Intel i5 2500k
ASRock H77 pro 4 MVP
Kingston DDR3 8gb 1600mhz
GTX570
120gb SSD for OS

Monitor: Samsung Syncmaster 940BW.

thanks!

You can't get a much better entire new rig for 800-1k. The thing is, your CPU is still a very good CPU, so there isn't a need to change to a whole new rig.

Instead, use your money and upgrade your RAM (16gb), GPU (maybe 1070? Depending on monitor), SSD (if you feel 120gb enough, then no need), and lastly your monitor too. Can go for 1440p or 1080p ultrawide.

Oh man... U are using a K processor on a H77 mobo. :( Wasted la. If not you can overclock to 4.5ghz and be done with it.

Maybe get 16GB of DDR3-2133mhz rams to maximise the potential of your i5-2500K.

Get a SSD of 256GB/512GB.

And yes upgrade your monitor to at least 1440p if you are upgrading your gfx card. :)

i had to change from an ASUS P8P67-M PRO. i broke the BIOS while trying to update.

Would that mobo be better to OC? if so I may try to revive it.

Is there any monitor that you would recommend? I need to look for something with bracket mounts. my initial survey of sls found that not many monitors have bracket support

Are u sing stock cooler or 3rd party cooler? But that the board does not give much oc headroom so it will be tricky to OC.

If possible, get a z77 motherboard from taobao. Then, get a good cpu cooler and oc. No point changing anything else as an oc-ed 2500k still pretty good for games. Just tong until 10nm intel chips or amd zen both coming out in early 2017. Maybe can consider an upgrade of gpu as well

Why not? Just tong for a couple of montha without breaking the bank. I've got several friends who got their z77 motherboards there back in 2011/2012 and they are still using it now. Just get a decent forwarder like ezbuy and you're golden
