Hi,

I'm currently using a rig which was built in late 2008 (~5 years now). However, recently i find that my GC (via DVI connector) is giving me problem. On and off, my LCD display will get flickered. And if i disable the GC via Computer Management, it seems ok. I hope my diagnostic is correct and it's not my LCD giving problem.

Sometimes the system performance is also slowing down if i open too many tabs in my browser. Playing D3 is also not an issue (cannot take high graphics, of course).

Other than these 2, i don't have much complain about my desktop.

My specs:
AMD AM2 X2 4800+ (2.50GHz)
Asus M3N78 Motherboard
Kingston 2x1GB RAM
Asus GF 8800GT 256DDR3
WD Caviar Blue 250GB hard disk (replaced in 2012)
Cooler Master Centurion RC-690 casing
Silverstone SST-ST50F 500W Power Supply

Advice please?

Need comments with the following setup.

i5-4440 + MSI B85M G43 ~$335
i5-4440 + Asrock B85M Pro4 ~$328
Crucial 8GB DDR3 ~$94
Crucial M500 120GB ~$115 (PC Themes)
MSI R9 270 2GB Gaming DDR5 ~$288
Windows 7 Home 64-bit ~$120 (PC Themes)
[Reuse] WD Caviar Blue 250GB hard disk (replaced in 2012)
[Reuse] Cooler Master Centurion RC-690 casing
[Reuse] Silverstone SST-ST50F 500W Power Supply

1. Please recommend 22" LCD.
2. Also read that to buy at Tradepac and assemble at gs's shop for a fee. Why don't buy and assemble at Tradepac or gs's shop straightaway?

Need comments with the following setup.

i5-4440 + Asrock H81M HDS or Asus B85M-G --> Saw from the other thread saying that Asrock design is bad? This Asus is compatible with the processor?
Crucial 8GB DDR3
Crucial M500 120GB
Msi 270 gaming or Gainward GTX 750 Ti Golden Sample
[Reuse] WD Caviar Blue 250GB hard disk (replaced in 2012)
[Reuse] Cooler Master Centurion RC-690 casing
[Reuse] Silverstone SST-ST50F 500W Power Supply

Avoid the HDS ver of asrock... not gd design of layout of components. Get the msi b85m g43/ asrock b85m pro4. Should be cheaper than the asus b85m-g

Where are you gonna get the gainward? Its not sold in sg...

How old is ur psu?

For 22", can considerl Dell S2340L at $219. Its 23" but at a great price.

2. TP may makan ur items. but GS may not b able to give u the discounts that TP can offer. So best of both worlds would be to get the parts frm TP, den bring all to GS shop and ask for help at a fee.

Also, i notice that you are not getting full system from TP, in which you may not get gd discounts. Full system in their books is cpu, mobo, ram, gpu, hdd, case, psu at least.

Ok, noted on msi b85m g43/ asrock b85m pro4.

I copied pasted the Gainward from other forum. Will remove it since not found in SG.

PSU is ~5 years since late 2008. Should replace even tho still working fine?

Btw, where did you get $219 for Dell S2340L? Is it also Tradepac? It's listed as "Offer" and PC Themes is selling for $240.

I don't mind forking extra $1xx for an i7. But just wondering is there a significant improvement from i5? What should be the combi?

Thanks for the help!

I7 is for video editings cause of its hyperthreading technology, in which gaming seldom utilize it. It is best to get an 4570 or 4440 depending on your budget.
