upgrade rig for pudg

looking for a upgrade for my rig.
Currently Playing PUBG, running ard 25~45fps.
I find it laggy and sometime rendering quite slow where i landed and buildings look like art paint.

CPU&Mobo: intel i5-4460 3.2GHZ + Asrock b85m pro4
GPU: powercolor r9 280 3gb turboduo
Memory: g.skill ripjaws 8gb(4gb x 2) 1600MHZ
Storage Drive: WD 1tb Blue sata 64MB cache 7200rpm
Display: dell S2340L
Audio: ath-m50x, audioengine D1, mackie CR4
PSU: FSP Aurum series Gold 600W
Casing: Corsair 400C
OS: Window 10 PRO (64-bit)


i think my CPU still can consider acceptable for PUBG? <correct me if i am wrong.

should upgrade GPU to GTX 1060 6GB or GTX 1070? Radeon RX 580 8GB?
or should i upgrade ram? budget <$100
or monitor? budget <$300
or 500gb ssd? budget <$250
recommend me please..

My specs was previously very similar to yours, just that im running a i5-4570 and a 7950 instead. Your 280(which is a rebadged 7950) is still a very capable card that can run pubg at 1080p@40-50fps at low settings. However, i realized that 8GB of ram is not enough as pubg would often hit 7gb of ram usage, leading to stuttering. I have since upgraded to 12gb of ram (8+4) and a gtx970 = stable constant frames around 60-70 at low-medium settings 1080p

thus i would recommend you to look out on carousel or the market place for good bargain 4gb ram first before considering the more expensive option to upgrade your gpu

What FPS are you getting in pubg? I believe my cpu still considering acceptable for this game at the moment, that's why I didn't look in cpu side even tho you mention that is more cpu intense.
Looking at spec I think is my gpu that is the burden to the game.

But ya, I now looking to buy gtx1060 6gb and getting a decent 2nd hand ssd and ram.

Gtx1060 I still waiting for promotion... Trying my luck to see if I can get it below 350$ but best if below 300$
Or maybe 1070 below 500$

im not a pro so im cant guarantee 100% no problem. However, to my understanding, mixing of ram is ok as long as u get the same rated speed. So for eg. if the current rams u have is rated at 1600mhz, it would be best if u get 1600mhz ram to pair with it.

If you get something with a different speed like 1333mhz, your mobo would downclock your current installed ram that is at a higher speed to 1333mhz

Please do note that adhoc pairing of rams this way is akin to running 2 ram sticks in single channel, not dual channel afaik

Dual channel, in a nutshell, is just your system recognizing the bandwidth of both ram as a unified single big ass bandwidth e.g. a single (128bit) compared to 2x single channel ram which is machiam (64bit)(64bit). Since you are just gaming, not having dual channel will have only a negligible impact on your gaming experience so its okay i suppose

I saw your post that you selling ram, for the 8gb can sell cheaper? The 8gb ram is cl9 1600mhz?
