Hi everyone, as mentioned i would like to plan and upgrade my CPU with a budget of around $900SGD. I guess it will be possible for me to keep my casing and hard disk.
Please advice!

My current ancient CPU rig specs:
MOBO: DFI LP DK P45-T2RS PLUS LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX
PROCESSOR: Intel Q6600 2.4GHZ
GPU: MSI R5770 Hawk Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5
RAM: KINGSTON HYPERX 4GB
PSU: ENERMAX LIBERTY 500W *running with weird noise*
CASING: ANTEC 900
HDD: WD 1TB
OS: Win7

BUDGET: $900

My daily computer usage: Work with microsoft office, music, leisure gaming: Battlefield 4, Starcraft 2.

Thank you for recommendation and advice!

Any idea about Asrock B85M-PRO4 i5-4670 and Seasonic SI2II 520W? Had some friends recommended that but still ain't pretty sure about it.

And what is Plextor m5s 128gb? SSD the same as hard disk?

Its a solid state drive, good for installing os. Makes it faster in booting up like 10secs, os more responsive, yet able to reduce load time for games up to 30%. Worth it and won't regret it.

Seasonic s12 is a non modular PSU. Unable to remove those unused wires.

If you wanna have haswell setup it will be slightly more costly than an ivy. Probably $70-$80 more for a 4670.

If you dont get a ssd for bf4, prepare to walk on foot for the most part. All vehicles will be gone by the time you finish loading on a normal hdd... :p

You mean that I shall install my OS and games in solid state drive and as for my WD 1TB will be using for other works like microsoft etc...?

Then i think sounds good with fsp raider :))

You mentioned that "Palit gtx760 2gb + fsp raider 550w ~$399" meaning both add up to $399? I saw the pricelist Palit gtx760 2gb - $349 while fsp raider 550w - $89.

Hoping to last me a bit longer like for another few years, so thought of i7 at first instead of a i5.

Yeap is a bundle deal. $399.

Yes install the os in the ssd, probably back up your HDD. After that wipe out and use it for storage like music, videos, and other stuffs.

I5 will do.

Hahahaha, good one! :s22:

I am quite curious, are BF4's levels significantly texture heavy enough so that an SSD would cause a difference in loading times?

Some games benefit from loading time like BF4. For games like league of legend you need to wait for everyone to load finish, so a ssd is negligible in this case. Also for some games like borderlands 2 the loading time difference is like 2-3 seconds so its a waste to install on ssd.

You only use ssd to install most played games, typically online games where it gives you an advantage to take tanks/heli. Other singleplayer games it wont hurt to load 5-10 seconds more.

Diablo 3 affects a lot and save a life man. Cause in inferno mode, if your HDD is slow, you tele to a waypoint the next thing when you load finish you lie on the floor with a tombstone.

In d3 1-2 secs differs a lot

Yay I load finish liao, but wheres everyone? :(
If people's rig can run battlefield and most ppl would want to run it maxed for visuals, then chances are that they are using ssd too... Haha...

I told you that your jetstream is lonely right? When you gonna sli? Haha... Recent patch for bf4 beta made my rig run at minimum 55 fps to 100 from 40 to 70... Song ah to not get any dips in fps... And everywhere is not grey with ash at the start...
