Upgrade suggestions needed.. 1k upper limit

Seeking advice on upgrade for this unit. For gaming only...

Intel Core i5 4460 3.2ghz
Asustek H97i-Plus
Kingston DDR3 8gb x2 PC3-10700
Zotac GTX 960 2GB
Samsung SDD 500GB
Not sure about PSU

Get Ryzen 3600 + MB + 2X8GB DDR4-3200 or 3600 + GPU and recycle the rest.

GPU is the big ticket item here. The Ampere GPUs would probably bust your budget so you can consider the second hand market. Upgrade the GPU later when prices (hopefully) come down.

10400f + b460 ds3h + 16gb ram. Reuse psu, ssd and gpu until ampere prices settle/stock is okay. If can get 3060 at 600+ worth it.

Hi Skrekro.. appreciate the reply.... I read thru some of the threads in hwz and saw some advise on saving the Psu... but I think I skimmed on the PSU est.. 5 years ago... so it’s coming back to haunt me with Skyrim and Battletech on the rig’s 4-5th year anniversary now.. auto restart etc lol...

Then get a psu as well, it might set you around 150 for a gold rated with 7-10 year warranty depending on the model.

None.

The cheapest Ampere is the RTX3060 which has an official MSRP of USD329 and launches in February. Unofficially, indications are that launch prices will be much higher.
