Upgrade to consider

Hello all i'm currently running the specs below

ASUS m5a78l-m + AMD Phenom II X3 720BE
MSI HD 6850
8gb ram

Which would be a better choice to upgrade for gaming? CPU or GPU? I suspect my current CPU is bottlenecking the GPU. Will I see noticeable improvement if I upgrade the CPU to an i5 4440?
