Upgrade woes

My R9 290 just died after 3 years of usage(burnt smell and doesn't work any more). I was hoping for my GPU to last till the graphics card price to drop before I do my upgrade lol.

Sapphire Tri-X R9 290 4GB (Currently using my 5850)
Memory
Kingston DDR3 8GB [4GB x 2]
Storage
Crucial MX100 512GB + Samsung F3 1TB

Already out of touch regarding the CPU and GPU generations. I guess if I were to upgrade my graphics card, I will need to change my CPU as well to avoid bottlenecks. What is the most bang for buck options right now(for both) and is there any new CPU and GPU line-up coming soon? I guess I can wait a little longer but I want to know what's situation now. Thanks!

For new GPU, there are rumors that Nvidia new GPUs will launch between July and September of this year. Code name 'Turing'.

If you cannot wait any longer, just get a current gen card.

Depending on your games, you CPU won't bottleneck a GTX 1060 or even a GTX 1070.

GPU prices are dropping in the US and UK. Just that shops in Singapore will try to price gouge as long as they can so prices haven't come down enough just yet.

Well depends on your usage. If it's not so high can just get a GTX 1070. And u can even move it to your next build as well.

CPU is still fine to be honest. I suggest you just go for a GPU upgrade first. A GTX 1060 6GB will be faster than the R9 290.

Left 2 final paper thought can finally relax and catch up on some games(FF XV and Far Cry 5)....

Just saw r9 290 vs 1060 not much difference in performance but I will be paying more than what I spent on my r9 290

Not really in a hurry though I must say. Probably going to wait for Nvidia's new series(either to get them directly or going for this gen cards at a much lower price). Lucky csgo not too demanding so my 5850 still can play....
