Hi all,

I currently have a desktop that was built in 2017 with the following specs:
CPU: Ryzen 5 2400g
Mobo: Asrock AB350M Pro4
RAM: 16GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4 3200 Mhz Patriot Viper 4
GPU: Sapphire Radeon RX 580 8 GB
OS: Windows 10
Case: Tecware Nexus M
PSU: 450W PSU
HDD: 1TB 7200 rpm SATA

Been thinking of upgrading this rig as its still working well but getting slower. I'm looking at the following areas to upgrade:
- Hard drive (Maybe get a SSD? 500 GB or 1 TB)
- Power supply (to either 650W or 750W?)
- GPU: GTX 3060 12 GB (Thinking of going for second-hand)
- Mobo + CPU: Maybe? I'm not sure
- Wifi card

Mostly looking at Hard drive, PSU and GPU upgrade. Current budget is about 600 - 800 dollars, any recommendations on which parts to get?

Will be doing art generation and photo editting.

u should definitely get a ssd. pc parts in general don't lose performance over time, and quite likely it is the data fragmentation on ur hard drive that is behind the system slowdown. u can get a decent pcie gen 3 nvme first to see if responsiveness improves; u should be able to find wd sn570s and samsung 980s easily. it is better to get ones with dram, though they are harder to find for a decent price.

for art generation, I'm assuming stable diffusion? 580 8gb should be sufficient with some tweaking, so if u find performance acceptable I don't see any reason to upgrade.

if upgrade to 3060 dun feel will see any diff......
y nid to upgrade psu if not spoilt? save the budget.
Since u doing artwork and photo edit, increase ram to 32 or 64GB better
Get a NVMe SSD, u will notice the huge diff. Any brand will do. Ur m/b support Gen3 NVMe

Upgrade to ssd 1st and see if the performance upgrade is sufficient for u.
No need to buy the remaining parts for now, they may or may not be a significant upgrade.

Was thinking of upgrading to rtx 3060 due to faster render + editting time. AMD support not as good as nvidia atm.

1) Upgrade both the CPU and motherboard
Example AMD Ryzen 5600 + Gigabyte B550M Aorus Elite - $454
2) Upgrade to Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVME SSD around $95

Everything else reuse, upgrade the AMD Ryzen 5 2400G which is quad core CPU
to AMD Ryzen 5600 6 Core will improve overall performance.
Just take note for new CPU and motherboard, recommend do a clean installation of Windows.

Not sure about what PSU you are using but the Sapphire Radeon RX 580 8 GB performance
isn't fully tap. 450watt PSU is rather low maybe can consider get a FSP 550watt PSU.
FYI a new graphic card looks nice but for photo and video editing is more on CPU than
Graphic card.
