Hi i need some suggestion for an old rig , couldnt get into the bios for the rig info .
Intel(R) Core 2 Duo CPU E4600 @2.40GHZ
4 GB ram ( not sure ddr2 or ddr3)
MSI N550GTX-Ti Cyclone OC GeForce GTX 550 Ti
Not sure about the psu watt ( assuming it is about 400 -500 since it was able to support the gtx 550?)
Running window XP

If i were to build a new pc around the GTX 550 Ti, which part should i replace ? Thanks alot in advance

Btw are you gaming?
H81-dgs+G3220~$143
Crucial 8gb~$90 (think your ram ddr2 if it's 3 then can save and get 4gb will do)
Windows 7~$116
Superflower Hx500~$88

Dota 2 and maple requirements are very low. Pentium G3220 is good enough to handle both games. But IMO, it may be a good idea to get i5. In case, he decides to play more demanding games, you only need to upgrade the gpu in the future.

is there a need to upgrade from win xp to win 7? planning to save on the software n spend on hardware
Thanks !
i was thinking of getting this
asrock b85m pro 4 + i5 4460 - 325
crucial ram x2 $ 90
wd 1tb -$71
nzxt source 210 - $68 or deep cool tesseract - $58
Superflower hx600 -$108
all from tradepac

or should i retain the current comp n change the window xp to window 7 ?
the computer is very laggy , takes alot time to load when clicking on browser n others
is it due to window xp ? and maybe change to a 7200rpm hard drive

There is no support for XP. So there may be issues with running games with XP. Best is to upgrade to win7 one shot.
