Hi, looking to upgrade my current computer as its getting a lot lag and stuttering during gaming or normal usage. I do not even know what is causing the lag but the GPU fan is kinda noisy during gaming. Do suggest if i want to upgrade my GPU to maybe like an 1070 what else do i need to change. Which 1070 would y'all suggest

Current Specs:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6500 CPU @ 3.20GHz, 3201 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
H170 PRO GAMING
RAM :16.0 GB
SEAGATE 2TB 3.5 7200RPM 64MB SATA3
ASUS GTX970 DC II STRIX 4GB GDDR5
CORSAIR CX650M 80+ BRONZE 650W PSU

Monitor your CPU and GPU usage during your gaming sessions.
If you haven't maxed out your cores, CPU is still fine.

GTX 970 is definitely due an upgrade especially if you are gaming at 1440p. If on a strict budget, GTX 1070 is okay. However, since you PSU is able to support, you might wanna take a look at rx 5700.

GTX 1070 is around $600 on Lazada now.

A better option would be RX5700 or RX5700 XT at this price range.

If your GPU has been working fine till now and is only now starting to lag and its fan ramping up, it could be a case of the thermal paste drying. It is good to replace the thermal paste in not only your CPU but also your GPU once in a while especially if your GPU is out of warranty and you are comfortable opening it up.

Once you do that, you will see a drop in temperature and game not lagging due to the GPU no longer thermal throttling. If it doesn't help still, then go ahead and upgrade. The thermal paste will always be useful down the line for other stuffs. So it's not really a waste. I recommend Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut. Way better than the M4 that I had previously.
