Hi everyone,

I am looking to upgrade my Lenovo T460s' RAM. Primarily, I will be using the laptop increasingly for development / learning purposes and will also need to run VMs or containers. The laptop came with 8GB out of box. I have opened up the laptop and it seems there is only 1 RAM slot so I'll have to do a replacement. I have no issues with doing the replacement per se but I would like some advice on the following:

  1. Will at least 1 of the below candidates work?
  2. Do I really need to be concerned about the difference between single vs. dual rank RAM?

ORIGINAL:
Samsung M471A5143DB0-CPB

CANDIDATE 1:
Crucial CT16G4SFD824A

CANDIDATE 2:
Crucial CT32G4SFD8266

Much thanks.

Hmm.... hard to say. The main problem is that some laptops have a problem with higher density RAM.

single side 8GB should not be an issue but I am not sure about 16GB. When its doubt its best to go for double side.
