Upgrading my old computer - NEED HELP

Hi, i bought the HP Pavilion Elite HPE-088d Desktop PC in 2010.

Specs as follows:
Intel(R) Core (TM) i7 CPU 860 @ 2.80GHz
MSI-MS-7613(Indio) motherboard
8.00 GB DDR3 1333 RAM
Nvidia Geforce GTX 650 Ti Boost
Window 10 64-bit

Recently was playing PUBG and wanted to upgrade the PC. Is it advisable to upgrade to Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1060 G1 Gaming 6GB or its equivalent? Will i face any problems with that?

Your advise is deeply appreciated, and will help alot.

Main things to look at when you're trying to upgrade a pre-built pc are:

1. PSU
2. Casing clearance

Power supply given by these brands are sometimes not good enough and given that your PC was purchased back in 2010, I would recommend you to change it.

GPU wise what you have listed is fine, just make sure the GPU fits into the case.

CPU is pretty old but should be just barely fine (might be a slight tiny bottleneck depending on applications and games).

Psu can just get a cheap bronze 550W or something

Casing clearance can try using pcpartpicker to check if your mobo and gpu can fit inside the casing. From what I gather the card you want is 10.94 inches, which is on the medium side. Can take measuring tape measure the distance from the pci-e to the casing lor.

If you haven't yet gotten an SSD, it's strongly recommended to invest in at least a 250gb one, it really boosts speeds.

8GB ram is quite sufficient for most of us. Find out how much ram you are currently using and make a decision from there.

Can get 2nd hand ones. A lot of resale due to upgrade to DDR4

Actually I think what you need is more Ram, new GFX and SSD. The rest still can do reasonable if you see some of the review youtube.

Thanks all for your advice. Surprisingly when I check out the DDR3 ram 1333mhz, a 4 GB would cost me $70+ at Sim Lim. One uncle even told me that no one sell 133mhz ddr3 ram anymore.

Anyway the ram is sufficient, will measure the space and get a better graphic card yen.

Check the Watts for your PSU. Might need to upgrade it along with your GPU.
