Upgrading my rig (part II)

Hi all,

A while back, I upgraded my graphics card based on the advice of bros here. Now, I'm considering upgrading my motherboard since it's already 5 yrs old.

My current specs (DYI rig) are as follow:
Intel Core I5 2500 3.3GHz Quad Core
Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3 (B3)
2x Kingston 4GB DDR3 1333 MHz CL9
MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G PCI-E 4GB
FSP Aurum Gold 600W PSU
Coolermaster 12cm R4L2R Blue LED Chassis Fan
WD Desktop Blue 1TB SATA

It's for gaming so I'm thinking of setting up for the newer GTX graphics card.

Appreciate any advice on the new motherboard or any other areas I should consider.

How much you intend to spend?

Just buy a 2nd hand 2600K and replace the 2500.

And get a 480/512GB SSD.

I'm probably setting aside $500-600 for this. My aim is to have something that can stay relevant for another 5 years.

SSD is another option as well.

What games are u playing? At which resolutions? And ur GPU not holding up to your game?

Anyway if u still wanna get a new mobo and chip u can wait till kabylake is out and consider upgrading it

I think you can stick with your current motherboard and CPU.

I am still using my i7-2600K and Z68 setup.

Mostly FPS games like COD and Battlefield, plus GTA and Fallout. Resolution usually 1920x1080p. Barely making it for recent COD game and the Battlefield beta where there are lags. Also, newer games to be launched like Mafia III requires Core i5-4430 3.0GHz so might as well upgrade it soon.

Wait for a few more months for Zen and kabylake to be released then make decision. By that time skylake pricing would have drop
