Upgrading of SSD

Hi guys,

Thinking of upgrading my SSD to of higher capacity(256gb). However, the SSD is my primary drive, which means the OS is in it. Are there simple ways of doing the switch to that?

1. get larger SSD
2. get data transfer cable & software. most SSD manufaturer have the software bundle. u just need the cable
3. transfer data
4. go to bios set boot drive as your new ssd

Best is to fresh install to avoid cloning issues later on.

Backup data,bookmarks, game saves,etc.

Shutdown pc n swap the main storage

Reinstall OS n programs.

Cloned many times. Up and running in minutes. Eg Intel provides a free tool from acronis to transfer if u transferring to Intel ssd

Never tried for SSDs but you can always buy those double toasters in SLS, insert both SSDs inside and hit the "clone" button.

Personally i would use the SSD as booting device 256GB and for my storage i would go for normal HDD, you should see an increase in speed on the spot

I have a Corsair 380GB, my pc boots in 12 Seconds!

I've just upgraded my SSD from 128 (OS Installed) to 250. I'm amazed how fast and easy...

I'd upgraded on desktop. Plugged in new SSD, installed the Migration software (I bought samsung SSD) . Select clone from 128 to my new 256. Done.

Reboot into the SSD (via bios).

Samsung SSDs comes with a cloning software. For some others like Crucial, need to use third-party software

2nd fastest way if you don't have cloning tools or software is the windows easy transfer tool. You still need to reinstall OS and programs but your data and settings should be migrated.
