Hi , currently helping my cousin to do a upgrade on his old PC
ACER ASPIRE M1930
Intel i3-2120 cpu 3.30 ghz
Ram 4gb
Window 7 64-bit
Geforce GT 430

He is on a low budget so upgrading which component will be de best for this build ? PC mostly used for games like dota 2 and CS go . I am recommending him to get a gtx 750 ti at the very least , and maybe a ssd too. Upgrading the ram to 8 gb wont really benefit much right ? does getting a gtx 950 worth it ? Any recommendations from red camp too ?
Thank alot guys :s12::s12::s12:

Edit( budget 300-400)

if want to get from green camp, get 2gb palit gtx 750ti for $195 at videopro, if want to save a little can get palit 2gb gtx 750 for $170, both will play those games maxed out. if want to hoot red team can go for sapphire 2gb r7 260x at $155 at videopro, but may require a new psu. all 3 graphics cards will play those games maxed out. can tell us what his psu is? if not enough wattage, can consider getting fsp hexa+ 450w at $58. ssd can hoot samsung 850 evo 250gb for $159 at pcthemes.

[GPU] Palit GTX 750 Ti StormX Dual 2048MB - $150.00** (Lazada)
[SSD] Samsung 850 Evo 250GB - $125.90 (Lazada)

Total :- $275.90 + $6 shipping

** Buy from Lazada SG App
MasterCard Monday (15% off capped @ $25)
DBS FriYaYs (12% off capped @ $25)

Get GTX 750 Ti will do, don't think will need to change PSU
Get a SSD to give that old com a new life :D

Maybe get a 4gb RAM to addon, or just get a 8gb RAM as mixing RAM will cause compatibility issues

Acer mobo is quite troublesome, best is just need to disable Secure Boot in BIOS if not may need to change mobo for it to use other hardware.

Open up the case, check double check what the Acer mobo model whether it support 8gb DIMM or not and check the the Kingston RAM model, can try to get the same model on 2nd hand market, and check the Wattage of the PSU. If it 250W, need to buy a new PSU then as it will be pushing it + OEM PSU :s22:

[PSU] FSP Hexa 450W 80+ - $50.15** (Lazada)

Should change to i5 cpu.. your i3 confirm die in cs:go.. no joke.
i5 sandy bridge second hand quite cheap now.. get one from the marketplace.

Then change the GPU to what the above posts stated.

Adding ram will reduce random spikes, its cheap anyway..

ssd doesn't improve gaming performance, no budget must skip.

Don't think that's a good idea. I know an auntie who's sister's household is ver low income (>$1500). I built him a used Desktop with a E8400 and a MSI 7750 and it plays CS:GO and Dota 2 (no max setting) just fine.

If nothing else, OP's cousin is on a very low budget, which means MUST reuse as much old parts as possible.

To OP: $400 is an extremely low budget amount. Think maybe can consider raising to maybe say $600 then rebuild ba. Build right and it can last your cousin for a long time :D

My brother has a pentium g3258 and he plays the game maxed out with 8x msaa on 1080p with no issue. If g3258 can play how come i3 cannot?:s22:

That game's not hard to run at all, dont see why a g3258 cant play it well. Its not like he's playing battlefield 4 64 player multiplayer match

yeah i know... by right should be no problem for i3 cause even 1st gen still able to play with fine... thats meant got other issues here... either upgrade SSD GPU and PSU... then its good to go...
