Hi all,
I need some advice about upgrading my desktop. My budget is S$1000. I like to play open world games like GTA V, Assassin's Creed, Batman etc. Just pre-ordered Just Cause 3 too. I don't need graphics to be on ultra, but I want games to run smoothly.
My current specs are as follows:
Processor: Intel Core i5 650
Mainboard: Asus P7H55D-M Pro
VGA: Nvidia GTX 770
RAM: 8gb DDR3 Kit G. Skill RipJawX 1600MHz
PSU: Seasonic G-Series 650W (80+ Gold)
My processor and mobo are definitely in need of an upgrade, and my choice is the i5-6600k combined with Asus Z170-A. However, this means I would have to buy new memory kits as I read that the LGA1151 mobos does not support DDR3 memory kits. Another choice would be to get i5-4690k, and I'll get to keep my current memory kits. But I'm not sure if this would be a good alternative. Also, I won't be doing any overclocking, so can I assume that the standard fan cooling would be enough?
I'm hoping to keep my current graphics card, unless it might really affect my gaming experience.
I also need a new harddisk, thinking of getting WD 1TB Black. Would it be better if I got WD 2TB Blue instead?? Which one would last longer?
Lastly, if my budget allows, I want to get a blu-ray reader.
Hope I provided enough details. Would appreciate any help given.
Thanks!!!
