Upgrading RAM

I am looking to upgrade my RAM.
Currently using G.Skill Ripjaws V 2400mhz 2x4gb sticks.
Saw that RAM prices have dropped since I built my PC 3 years back
Do advise the below questions.

1/ Can i just go out and buy the cheapest 2x4gb pack to add on?
2/ Is it better to buy the same brand and model? Does RAM clock speed and timings have to be the exact same as my current ones?
3/ I saw 2x16gb sticks going for affordable prices. Is it advisable to add on those to my current ones? Will there be any issues running 40gb ram? Just nice or overkill?


ps. I'm running an i5-7600 and if i remember correctly my RAMs will only run at 2400mhz maximum.

pss. just saw that my specs are posted on the right hand side. anything i should look to upgrading if i have say a $500 budget?

For gaming you dont really need more than 16 gb

Yes ram price had dropped but now is gonna go back up due to possible political triggered trade war between japan and skorea.

The ram should run at the fastest speed your cpu can support, so having a high speedram will simply automatically downclock it to the level your cpu can support.

It is okay to have two pairs of different brand or speed. The system by right should run at the lowest speed of either pair.

You can buy whatever ram kit you want, you might have plan to reuse it later on new rig, who knows.

For gaming you dont really need more than 16 gb

I run multiple android emulators on my PC and its starting to freeze everytime i launch another program e.g Chrome, discord

Was looking at adding another 8gb but after surveying prices, 16gb or maybe even 32gb looks very much worth it.
