Hey everyone, this is my first post here.
Read through the rules so i hope this belongs to this forum.
I'm looking to upgrade my desktop, its getting pretty old already.
These are the specs:

my current set up
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10GHz
8GB Ram
Display adapter 0
Name AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series Board Manufacturer PC Partner Memory size 2 GB

I'm thinking of upgrading the GPU to a GTX970. Or maybe even waiting for the 1070 to come out hopefully next month.
My processor feels kind of slow but I don't think it needs upgrading urgently unless you guys think otherwise?
With regards to the GTX970, which brand would you recommend? I'm leaning toward the MSI after reading up on a few reviews.

Lastly, if i remember correctly I built this at fuwell. Should I go back to them?
Or are there newer more competitive shops around with better prices at sim lim?

Your specs are still fine. What you need is an SSD. About $70 to 80 for 240GB. It will make a big difference to your system.

As for the GPU, you are better off waiting for 1070 or 1080. No point getting a 970 at this point in time.

Thanks! I will go and do a bit more research on SSDs.

Hoping to get more opinions!

Buying online (local) tends to get you the best pricing these days, for stuff like SSDs, usually with local stock. Sometimes it's from SLS shops, buy via their qoo10 store and self collect. Follow the various threads and you'll see the recommended deals.

In addition to waiting for the 1070 or 1080, you should also wait for the new Polaris GPUs from AMD, I think they are announcing in June. After that just do a comparison between the two, see which one you prefer.
