Hi all,

My dad needs a new com as it just crashed on him. He was using a core2duo. His usage will be mostly be doing alot of documentations, surfing the net as well as some occasional youtube videos. Can anyone recommend a simple rig, one that loads fast as well and doesnt lag much. He probably need some moderate storage space to backup his photos as well. Need windows.

Budget $500-$800 but of course as low as possible as well.

Im thinking to head down sim lim later.

Thanks guys!

Thanks for the help! I managed to get the desktop today and I'm setting it up now. Can advise if the $10 windows on carousell is legit? Sounds suspicious. Haha... And also, where do you get microsoft office? Any lobangs? Haha thanks!

Bought all the parts for $720 including the monitor. Yilong gave me a slight discount.

Dell SE2417HG is a bad recommendation, it's a TN panel and coated with high gloss material, meaning the color is bad and screen is reflective. I avoided recommending anybody or my clients this monitor.

For around $29 more, you can get the best monitor in sub $200 price class.

The Samsung S24F350FHE

The 10 bucks key from carousell is legit. Just remember that it's an OEM key that can only be used once. I made a mistake of installing it on an SSD in my old desktop (with the key), moved the SSD to my new desktop and then received some error saying my copy of windows is not activated.

Can confirm yours is OEM key and not volume license key?

The Key is tied to your mobo
If you moved the ssd to a new mobo, it will not be activated.
So you need a new key

So it's like a one time use only while those I purchase from the retail store I can install it many times? Then what about microsoft office 365? its only like $10-$20 and the subscription is forever and able to install on 5 pcs. Is it legit?
