Top Long-Term Growth Stocks in the Health Care Sector
January 20, 2020

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, jobs in the health care field are expected to grow 14% between 2018 and 2028 – a faster growth rate than any other occupational group. People are living longer and having fewer children, leading to an aging population and thus, a greater demand for health care. Over the past couple of decades, the iShares U.S. Healthcare ETF (IYH) has grown at a faster rate than the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY).

Dividend Aristocrats In Focus Part 56: AT&T
January 22nd, 2020

AT&T is a high-quality business. The company is steadily profitable, even during recessions. It also has a major growth catalyst in the form of its Time Warner acquisition. These qualities should allow the company to continue raising its dividend every year, as it has done for over three decades.

Debt remains a concern for investors, but the company’s immense free cash flow, in our view, diminishes the importance of this concern. Non-core asset sales will also aid in deleveraging.

Thanks to expected earnings growth, the high dividend yield, and a reasonable stock valuation, we believe AT&T can provide attractive total returns to shareholders in the coming years. As a result, AT&T stock remains a buy for income and value investors.

Dividend Aristocrats In Focus Part 57: Coca-Cola
January 23rd, 2020

Coca-Cola has made great strides repositioning its portfolio to meet changing consumer tastes. It has built a large portfolio of juices and teas, to cater to a more health-conscious consumer.

There is more work to be done to diversify away from sparkling beverages, and we see much-improved growth prospects beginning in 2020.

We rate the stock a sell given its valuation, but we very much like Coca-Cola’s dividend as well as its improved growth outlook. Coca-Cola is a time-tested Dividend Aristocrat, and will very likely continue increasing its dividend each year.

Will Amazon Ever Pay A Dividend?
January 23rd, 2020

In theory, Amazon could pay a dividend if it chose to. Amazon is cash flow-positive, meaning it generates free cash flow that could be used to pay dividends. In the trailing 12-months through the 2019 third quarter, Amazon generated $23.46 billion of free cash flow, up 53% from the previous 12-month period.

Ultimately, a company has to make the decision to initiate a dividend payment. This is often done when future growth no longer requires such heavy investment. For Amazon, the company still has many new avenues for future expansion in mind, including (but not limited to) media content, grocery stores, and health care.

As a result, growth is still very much the top priority for Amazon. As a result, investors should not expect a dividend payment any time soon, despite Amazon’s rising profitability.
