Having Trouble Getting the Covid Vaccine? Your Company Might Soon Offer It.
March 7, 2021

Many businesses see giving vaccine doses to employees at work as a way to efficiently vaccinate staff but, in doing so, are joining a race for scarce shots.

Pharmaceutical company AbbVie Inc. has begun giving staff at its North Chicago headquarters doses, according to people familiar with the matter, giving priority to those over 65 years old and then workers in operations and manufacturing. Abbott Laboratories also has begun giving doses at its nearby headquarters to eligible workers, such as those in manufacturing, food service and daycare, a spokeswoman said, and Tyson Foods Inc. has delivered doses to staff at its Joslin, Ill., beef plant and to some workers in Iowa, a spokesman said.

Other large companies registered to provide doses include energy giant Exxon Mobil Corp. , meatpacker Smithfield Foods Inc. and machinery-makers Caterpillar Inc. and Deere & Co., according to Illinois public-health records. Some of those companies run or are planning to run closed vaccine-giving events, meaning only their own staff are eligible, not the broader public. Sites are reliant on state and local public-health authorities for allocations of doses

US Auctions will be closely monitored this week!
March 9, 2021

This week, the US Treasury will be auctioning off the following:

Tuesday: 3-year notes
Wednesday: 10-year notes
Thursday: 30-year bonds
In addition, the Treasury will also be issuing a few short-term duration bills (less than 1 year). There is also a good deal of corporate bond supply this week.

Recall on February 25th when the Treasury auctioned 7-year notes. It did not go well. As a result, bond prices moved lower (on less demand) and yields moved higher (yields move inversely to bond prices):

Verizon has partnered with Hoy Health, the digital health platform that provides bilingual healthcare support in English and Spanish, to offer Verizon Wireless postpaid customers discounts at a time when healthcare has never been a higher priority. Starting today, new and existing Verizon Wireless customers in the U.S. and their families can save on telehealth services through Hoy Health, including virtual visits, prescription services, and more.

“We are extremely proud to partner with Verizon,” said Mario Anglada, CEO, Hoy Health. “Our mission has always been to provide access to quality and affordable primary care to all communities. This partnership with a leading company such as Verizon will allow us to further expand our reach and fulfill our mission.”

Reflation rotation reverses
10 Mar 2021

This will not be the end of the matter. It’s possible the conflicting impacts of higher growth and inflation risks will dominate the market conversation for most of 2021. Unfortunately for the reserve bankers attempting to calm sentiment there are potential catalysts on the immediate horizon.

Asian Open: Lower yields fuels tech stock rebound
March 10, 2021

A successful 3-year bond auction overnight enticed investors to buy bonds across the curve and send yields lower, in turn giving sentiment on Wall Street a lift and sending indices higher. OECD’s upgrade to global and US growth also played its part. The US 10-year yield fell to 1.54% and the 30-year is now down to 2.25%.

Wall Street was quick to take note, which saw technology stocks lead the rebound and the Nasdaq 100 post an impressive 4.4% gain. This also means that the close above the 12,758 ‘neckline’ invalidates the bearish head and shoulders pattern on the daily chart, although price action remains in a tight bearish channel. A break above 13,300 is required before we can assume bullish continuation on the daily chart.

Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile All Have Big Events This Week. Here’s What to Expect.

March 10, 2021

Verizon (Wednesday at 6 p.m. ET)

That long-term vision includes an integrated wireless and wired footprint that serves all of Verizon’s customers on one seamless network. Expect to hear the terms “network-as-a-service” and “Intelligent Edge Network” many times at the investor day.
:s22:

T-Mobile (Thursday at 2 p.m. ET)

“The FCF outlook will also speak to deleveraging and when TMUS might re-launch its buyback program.”

AT&T (Friday at 10 a.m.)
AT&T management is likely to underline their commitment to the dividend, which currently yields about 7% annually, and may give an update on their debt-reduction plans or long-term leverage target. AT&T’s C-Band bill is about $28 billion including clearing costs.
